Junior Developer/IT Systems Support - Wickford

This is a NEW opportunity for a Junior Developer who has assisted in systems development and maintenance activities in PHP, Javascript, Java, XML etc. Additionally, this is a DUAL role which involves IT Systems Support, supporting existing Windows desktop infrastructure.

You will be working for an established, family-run, rapidly growing vehicle & plant maintenance company who serve companies on a national scale. They believe in employees having a voice in the company, and always aim to operate to the highest standards of ethics & morality.

This is a permanent opportunity based in Wickford, offering £27,000-£30,000, and a quarterly bonus. Free parking is on offer, as well as regular company events to encourage great company culture.

A full, valid, driving license is required as travel to other sites may be required!

What does the role entail?

The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply their skills to IT Development and IT Systems Support. The candidate will be able to deliver high quality software solutions while maintaining existing solutions.

Junior Developer

• Assist in systems development and maintenance activities in several languages (PHP, Javascript, Java, XML etc)
• Assisting with database management and maintenance activities (MySQL, SQLite etc)

IT Systems Support

• Deploying new equipment installations, configuring platforms and software to recognised standards under direction, and ensuring software licence compliance. (Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Android)
• Network support to maintain the existing infrastructure to recognised standards, by performing upgrades, new installations and carrying out routine procedures.
• Development of Information Security compliance measures and documentation (Cyber Security Essentials, ISO 27001, GDPR).
• Maintenance of an accurate inventory of hardware and software.

Other duties

• To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.

What skills will you have?

• IT Qualifications - Computer Science, Software Development, Online Computer Degree, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Good knowledge of traditional web and mobile development languages (PHP, Javascript, Java, XML)
• Knowledge and experience of SQL and management tools (MySQL, SQLite and PHPMyAdmin desirable)
• Practical IT Support experience, ideally gained within a technical support/help desk environment role.
• Experience and understanding of the Windows 10/11 desktop environments, Microsoft 365 products and administration.
