Cloud Platform Engineer - £65,000 - Must be able to commute to Glasgow office
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to join our client's dynamic Digital team, contributing to delivering a seamless digital experience across the organisation.
Responsibilities: In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape our technical strategies for digital product development, implementation, and maintenance. Collaborating within cross-functional teams in a hybrid working model, your key duties will include:
- Managing and deploying crucial systems with a focus on automation, user-friendly configuration, minimising errors, repeatability, and security.
- Creating and managing automated cloud pipelines.
- Using monitoring tools to assess service performance.
- Applying infrastructure-as-code principles to deliver scalable, predictable, and automated solutions.
- Enabling development teams to effectively build and deliver software solutions.
- Advocating for automated, resilient, and secure development processes.
- Addressing and resolving anomalies and contributing to broader investigative efforts as required.
- Providing support and collaboration with engineering teams on cutting-edge technologies.
- Participating in an on-call rotation for system support.
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience in designing and implementing solutions on the Azure platform.
- Proficiency in monitoring services to ensure optimal performance and stability.
- Capability to deploy various Azure resources, such as IaaS, PaaS, and serverless solutions.
- Familiarity with the Hub-Spoke architectural model.
- Expertise in cloud orchestration tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes.
- Experience in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Solid analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and sound judgement.
Desirable Skills:
- Background in Linux system administration.
- Understanding of networking concepts.
- Knowledge of HAProxy.
- Experience with Eventstore.
- Familiarity with databases like MySQL/MariaDB/Galera.
- Experience working with Redis.
- Knowledge of vSphere/VMWare platforms.
