Digital Content Manager

Job summary

We're looking for an experienced applicant to join our website redevelopment project and spearhead the creation and execution of our digital content strategy.

As a Community and Mental Health Trust, our key audiences have a wide range of physical and mental health requirements. Alongside exceptional planning and execution skills, you'll be expected to demonstrate an ability to comprehend and effectively communicate complex information, oversee the quality control of content produced by the project team, and maintain consistency across our digital platforms.

You'll also play a key role in shaping the information architecture of the website and will need a comprehensive understanding of website structure, labelling, navigation and search requirements.

The successful applicant will need a recognised qualification in marketing, communications or a related field, or extensive experience of working in a content strategy role and will have high standards of written and spoken English.

This post allows you to predominantly work from home but will require you to travel into our main Berkshire sites when needed.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to our Head of Digital Marketing & Communications, and working in collaboration with our Digital Communications Officers, Content Strategy Manager and external suppliers, you will:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to identify content needs and requirements, develop content strategies, and define objectives

  • Produce and deliver content plans for digital platforms, taking the lead on planning, delivery and evaluation

  • Commission and/or create effective content and multi-media, including graphics, photography and video/animations, and distribute them via the website Content Management System

  • Coordinate and support project team members and provide guidance for other teams on how to plan and deliver effective content

  • Monitor content performance and produce monthly reports summarising activity and making recommendations for improvements

  • Issue regular project updates and communications to engage different stakeholders in the project

  • Extensive experience in a content strategy role, preferably managing digital channels
  • Experience of devising, implementing, managing, and evaluating successful content strategies involving a broad range of stakeholders
  • Experience of dealing with diverse teams and an ability to build trust and influence senior stakeholders
  • An excellent understanding of how to make best use of digital tools and platforms to support content strategy development and delivery

Person Specification

Training & Experience

Essential
  • Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or another related field, or equivalent career experience
  • Relevant Master's degree level qualification in marketing, communications (CIM/CIPR) or equivalent experience
  • Certifications in content management or digital marketing
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development
  • Training in Microsoft Office
  • Training in Content Management Systems
  • Training in Content Strategy
  • Leadership training
  • Significant experience in strategic content management for websites
  • Proven track record of successfully creating and implementing content strategies for websites that align with organisational objectives
  • Experience in managing project timescales and adapting/prioritising to ensure deadlines are met
  • Familiarity with a range of content management systems (or extensive knowledge of Umbraco) for creating and publishing content
  • Proven ability to train others on how to effectively use content management systems
  • Familiarity with analytics tools, especially GA4, and using data to assess and improve content
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and supplier procurement processes
  • Detailed understanding of WCAG 2.1 and its application to web content

Additional Requirements

Essential
  • Excellent writing and proof-reading skills, confident in grammar and use of Plain English
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload, working productively to tight deadlines
  • High level of IT skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel between Berkshire sites
  • High speed/fibre broadband at home
