Job summary

The IT department delivers an IT service that encompasses the whole of BWC. 6,000 employees, working from various premises, spread across a multitude of service departments. In addition, services are delivered regionally encompassing NHS England and the ICS.IT services provided includes:To ensure the smooth running and maintenance of the Trust's corporate servers.To ensure all applications on servers are installed correctly and regularly maintained.Support other ICT third line duties as directed by the ICT Infrastructure ManagerTo direct users on the use of ICT empowering skills and knowledge.To maintain and update personal skills and knowledge to benefit the Trust.To promote the correct use of ICT policiesParticipate in the ICT Server Operations On Call service

Main duties of the job

First point of contact for ICT Technical staff.To ensure all corporate servers are maintained correctly ensuring firmware and software revision are correct.To ensure all corporate server OS and applications are working correctly; regularly maintaining all software packages together with updates.Liaison with third party suppliers with regard to resolving any issues with servers and network related incidents.All requests for new installations, fault calls and helpdesk requests are responded to within agreed timescales.Configuration and installation of software is in line with Trust Policies and Procedures.Procurement of ICT equipment in the Trust is undertaken with the guidance of the ICT Technical Support Team.Trust equipment should be, where appropriate, connected to the Trust Local Area Network.Data security is adhered to i.e., backups, secure storage, password protection etc.Third-level technical support is available to Trust staff.

Qualifications

Essential
  • MCITP in windows 2016 server technologies or equivalent experience.
  • Sound educational background to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuous development.
  • xperience supporting server technologies in a medium to large corporate environment
  • Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent computer related qualification.
Desirable
  • Professional IT qualifications
  • PRINCE2 Foundation or ITIL V3.0 Foundation
  • Microsoft MCSE

Knowledge & Nature of Experience

Essential
  • Set up servers both Physical and Virtual in a VMware environment.
  • Plan, Implement and maintain Windows based servers within an Active Directory environment.
  • Understanding/appreciation of Data Protection Act and GDPR
  • Minimum three years' experience of support in Windows 2008R2/2016 Server Technologies in medium to large corporate environment
  • Experience supporting SQL 2012, VMWare 6, Windows Server

PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

Essential
  • Ability to support staff on the Helpdesk as necessary in the delivery of systems support.
  • Ability to support Learning Difficulty Students, Apprentices and Work Experience Students.
Desirable
  • Any experience working with wireless networks would be advantageous
  • VMware, Netapp SAN knowledge and good understanding of Networking Technologies around Cisco technologies.
