Research Technician Apprentice

As an integral member of the Technology and Process Innovation (TPI) team, the Research Technician Apprentice will assist in the carrying out of scientific experimentation, laboratory investigations and/or production activities across Research & Development of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs)

Role

  • Assist in laboratory investigations using the appropriate scientific techniques, procedures and methods relevant to the development of Advanced Therapies.
  • Participate in the design and execution of experiments, purchasing and receiving materials, and report the scientific results to senior colleagues.
  • Ensure the accurate recording of technical data in accordance with good practice and approved Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support operational efficiency by ensuring the laboratory is adequately resourced and everything is clearly labelled.
  • Performing controlled cleaning of laboratories and specialised equipment in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Assist in the managing of scientific projects from project planning through to project milestones, risk analysis and key performance measures and to contribute to the wider organisations operational plans.
  • Timely and successful completion of modules and assessments as required for University of Kent’s Foundation Degree in Applied Bioscience (for ATMP).

Training

You will obtain an IfATE Apprenticeship Certificate at Level 5, and by completion of the final module and assessment you will obtain a Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Applied Bioscience. Most study will be self-directed and online, with some on-campus attendance in your first and second years.

  • Once you successfully complete the apprenticeship, you will be invited to apply for substantive positions at Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult or one of our collaborator organisations.
