Engineering Apprenticeship - Level 4

The Apprentice Engineer will learn and obtain experience in the automation engineering through a combination of off-the-job training and secondment roles across the business. Throughout the apprenticeship you will be taught the key engineering skills and gain the experience required by an Automation Engineer at Chemring Countermeasures.

Role

The responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • To comply with all health and safety procedures and regulations laid down by the company and to demonstrate a commitment to health and safety
  • College attendance and successful completion of coursework and exams
  • Completion of a level 4 engineering qualification
  • Gaining a wider understanding of the business through placements across various departments
  • Gain knowledge & experience in lean manufacturing tools and techniques: problem solving, loss analysis and continuous improvement etc
  •  Undertake small projects to develop and demonstrate competency in technical and analytical aspects
  • Develop a good understanding of process, plant and equipment across the business
  • To train in the provision of buildings, services, tooling, and equipment in support of the production programme
  • To train in the setting up and carrying out of initial running of new processes. Including process documentation

Apprentice Engineer Specification:

  • Right to live and work in the UK, with ability to obtain SC level clearance
  •  Level 2 qualifications E.g GCSE A*-C or grades 4-9 in Maths, English and Science
  • Level 3 Engineering Qualification
  • Must not be colour blind (due to the nature of the role)
  • IT Skills
  • Knowledge of basic Engineering principle

Training

  • Automation and controls engineering technician qualification (level 4)
  • Day release at Farnborough College
  • Job based training at High Post Salisbury
  • You will become a qualified Automation Engineer with potential for further progression to other engineering roles and/or study.
