Cisco Network and Security Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Network & Security Engineer to join a dynamic and fast-growing logistics organisation. In this role, you will take responsibility for deploying, maintaining, and supporting global networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN) as well as managing security hardware and software. You will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology in a fast-paced, international environment. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for network security and a keen eye for detail, ready to ensure the proper configuration and security of networks while providing essential support to the wider IT team.
Working Structure (Mostly remote)
This business is based in Dartford, Kent, and is open to people mostly remote. The onsite requirement would come if there was a project, in-person meeting, or company event. They expect that the onsite working requirements to be as little as 2 to 3 days per month.
Main Duties
* Administer and maintain network and security platforms, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
* Manage firewalls, VPN solutions, and network access control for enhanced security.
* Conduct diagnostics and analysis on network security systems to ensure performance and reliability.
* Monitor network traffic to optimise performance and identify potential threats.
* Create and maintain technical documentation, including network designs, specifications, and roll-out plans.
* Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into new systems and applications.
* Ensure compliance with change control processes and support authorised changes only.
* Provide on-site support when necessary, both within the UK and internationally.
What Are We Looking For?
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background in network and security solutions. The ideal candidate should have the following:
* At least 2 years of experience with Cisco network support.
* Experience supporting multi-site Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks.
* Strong understanding of TCP/IP and experience with network segmentation.
* Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, and enterprise wireless solutions.
* Familiarity with Cisco hardware and software, including Meraki.
* Knowledge of routing protocols like BGP and Static Routing.
* Experience with network monitoring solutions and RADIUS/TACACS.
* Excellent documentation skills, including experience with Visio and Microsoft Office.
* A full UK driving licence is required.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
* Knowledge of Cisco DNA Centre, SD-WAN, and Cisco Secure Firewalls.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Azure.
* Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
* CompTIA Network+ certification.
