LinuxSystem Engineer

Join our dynamic team as a Senior Systems Engineer, a pivotal role within our System Engineering team. You'll be instrumental in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the technical systems and infrastructure for both our customer-facing and corporate services (OSS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver continuous incremental improvement of systems and infrastructure.
  • Take end-to-end ownership and responsibility of technical solutions.
  • Engineer solutions to complex challenges and business requests.
  • Deliver on shared team priorities.
  • Coach and mentor team members, fostering their success.
  • Act as a technical escalation point
  • Document processes comprehensively to ensure team clarity.
  • Drive tasks forward with energy and enthusiasm.

Essential Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a commercial environment supporting the following:
    • Expert in Linux Administration.
    • Application support (e.g., PostgreSQL, Radius, DNS).
    • Scripting experience (ideally Python and/or PowerShell).
    • AWS (CloudFormation, Route53, S3, Lambda, Security, and troubleshooting).
    • Automation tools (Puppet, Ansible, Git).
    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnosis skills.
    • Network and firewall knowledge.
    • Familiarity with VMware and/or OpenStack.
    • Experience with backup and replication technologies (ideally Veeam and Zerto).
    • Structured change management and ITIL knowledge.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with common applications such as Apache, MSSQL, Postgres.
  • Networking (TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN, VLANs, IPv6).
  • Kubernetes and deployment pipelines.
  • Exposure to public and private cloud platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Familiarity with standards including ISO9001, ISO27001.
  • Previous experience in a Telecoms business.
  • Comfortable with a Kanban workload management approach.
  • Good communication and influencing skills.
