Senior Configuration Support Analyst

Job summary

As Senior Configuration Support Analyst, you will configure our Welsh Laboratory Information Management System (WLIMS) to the requirements and standards of pathology laboratories across NHS Wales. You will help develop documentation for system/user support and contribute to the development of clinical assurance processes. Alongside these duties you will take the lead role in testing WLIMS.

This will include;

Taking the lead role in generating test data and the development of relevant test strategies.

Writing and executing test plans and test scripts.

Overseeing execution of those test plans and scripts.

Collaborating with third-party suppliers and internal teams to ensure software and interfaces are appropriately tested.

Assisting the WLIMS operational support team with all aspects of operational change.

Whilst doing so, you will learn and contribute to, the DHCW test framework and the rules governing how we test. You'll also improve your skills by contributing to your Personal Development Plan (PDP).

Main duties of the job

What software will you be configuring and testing?

The Welsh Laboratory Information Management System (WLIMS) is used by pathology staff to record and exchange information such as test results for multiple disciplines. This will include the transfer of information to other NHS Wales clinical applications to ensure an "end to end" testing approach.

What skills do you need?

A good listener, you're able to analyse information and not afraid to ask questions.

Experience of working in a pathology laboratory setting

A good communicator able to express your thoughts and opinions clearly.

You'll be comfortable signing off test phases. Careful to consider others' opinions but confident to defend the conclusions you reach.

Able to maintain relationships with other test teams.

Applications are invited from individuals with a background working in diagnostic laboratories with knowledge of Pathology laboratory processes or Laboratory Information Management Systems, and are keen to develop their skills in an Information Technology environment.

Knowledge of the different Pathology disciplines

Knowledge of GxP regulations and system validation

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential
  • Degree clinically related (or equivalent) or experience in a pathology background
  • Evidence of post graduate development - education training equivalent experience
Desirable
  • HCPC Registered Clinician
  • ITIL V3 Practitioner or equivalent knowledge and experience

Experience

Essential
  • Significant experience in the use of Laboratory Information management systems
  • Experience of testing including creating test data and providing input to test strategies, plans and scripts.
  • Experience of creating, modifying and maintaining SOPs and audit documentation to comply with ISO regulations.
Desirable
  • Proven experience in the configuration, design and support of information and IT systems

  • Ability to communicate with staff up to a senior level on complex business or clinical processes
  • Ability to learn new technologies and IT systems quickly through specialist training courses and self study
  • Ability to organise own work effectively and work on own initiative
