Person Specification

Qualification and/or Knowledge

Essential
  • Achieved (or working towards) degree level or equivalent qualification in IT or able to demonstrate equivalent experience in this area
  • Professional IT qualification such as RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) or CompTIA Linux+ plus relevant experience
  • Commitment to continuing professional development for self
  • ISEB Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management (ITIL) or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Good general knowledge of common hardware and software applications
  • Understanding of interrelationships between aspects of IT infrastructure and service support requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of the Linux Server distributions and Ansible automation.
  • Thorough knowledge of IT Communications Infrastructure; including knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN topologies, PoP3/SMTP/Squid and how it applies to IT infrastructure and service support.
Desirable
  • PRINCE2 foundation or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • ISEB Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management (ITIL) or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of NHS Wales organisations & ITIL strategy
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: oLDAP oScripting oTelecom services security protocols, procedures and best practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role of DHCW
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS standards and legal requirements relating to Information Governance and Security.

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of working in a technical support role and proven experience in the development and support of IT systems
  • Experience of taking a lead role in developing and implementing IT systems and services
  • Experience of Linux Server Applications -including: Apache/Nginx, Squid, RedHat Satellite, AWX/Ansible Tower, GIT, Veritas/Symantec Backup Exec and automation using Ansible.
