Business Intelligence and Development Manager

Job summary

We are recruiting for a Business Intelligence and Development Manager who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will be responsible for the provision of business intelligence systems to provide information and to support the decision making requirements of the Trust.You will beresponsible for the development and design of critical, complex business intelligence information systems to support the business requirements of the Trust. You are also responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of business intelligence systems developed by the department.

Main duties of the job

To line manage one band 7 staff and ensure that work is assigned fairly, that deadlines are adhered to and development opportunities are identified.

To manage the timetable of work and the working hours of the team ensuring that there is suitable cover at all times.

Support and attend meetings with the stake holder. Gather development specifications and scope work with realistic deadlines.

Train and supervise junior staff and support their personal development goals.

Conduct recruitment, appraisals, performance management, welfare, grievance and disciplinary issues.

To develop the business intelligence systems on an on-going basis to ensure it meets the changing needs of the Trust.

To maintain, support, enhance and develop the business intelligence systems and associated technologies, dealing with any issues that may arise.

To conduct effective and timely analysis of system requirements and produce appropriate application solutions to meet the needs of customers.

To maintain and enhance existing applications to enable changing business processes.

Undertake new projects and provide maintenance support for the completed projects.

Qualifications / Training

Essential
  • Education to degree level or equivalent relevant NHS experience
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
Desirable
  • Master's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computing or other primary science subject, or specific Information-related experience

Previous Experience

Essential
  • Experience working at a strategic level in Health Informatics within the NHS, including involvement in strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Track-record of advanced IT skills ? .SQL server 2014 ? Visual Studio ? SSIS / SSAS ? QlikView / Power BI ? MS Office applications
  • Proven record of working within as a Senior Analyst in an NHS Information Department including ? Data Retrieval, analysis and presentation
  • Management Experience: ? Team Leadership credentials ? Leading a project ? Chair Meetings ? Deputies senior managers
Desirable
  • Experience of the acute sector in the NHS
  • Python / R - Knowledge of Machine Learning
  • Previous Department Management experience

  • Effective at working within and management of a team
  • Strong 'customer service' orientation and ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with different and levels of staff groups
  • Able to question and challenge existing practices and working methods in order to create innovative workable solutions and to work under pressure paying attention to detail

Knowledge

Essential
  • IT technical knowledge of SQL Server
  • 2016 including T-SQL, SSRS
  • Visual Studio 2010 and highly developed knowledge in Microsoft Office skills and MS operating systems.
  • NHS Data Dictionary
  • High level knowledge of Performance Returns, definitions, guidance and management in the Acute NHS
  • Business Intelligence tools and techniques for presentation of data as information
Desirable
  • NHS reporting regime with respect to published strategy, policy, performance and service frameworks
