The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with NSX-T, along with strong networking skills and a passion for implementing cutting-edge solutions to support their organisation's needs.

Job Responsibilities

Design, plan, and architect VMware NSX-t solutions to meet the organisation's networking requirements, including virtualised network infrastructure, micro-segmentation, and network virtualisation.

Deploy, configure, and maintain NSX-t components, including NSX Manager, NSX Controller, NSX Edge, NSX Distributed Firewall (DFW), and NSX Logical Switching, according to best practices and design specifications.

Implement network virtualisation features and functionalities, such as VXLAN, VLAN, and overlay networks, to abstract physical network resources and provide flexibility and scalability in the network architecture.

Configure and enforce micro-segmentation policies using NSX-t Distributed Firewall (DFW) to enhance network security and isolate workloads within the virtualised environment.

Integrate NSX-t with existing network infrastructure components, such as physical switches, routers, and firewalls, and automate network provisioning and management tasks using APIs and scripting tools.

Troubleshoot network issues, analyse performance metrics, and implement optimisations to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of the NSX-t environment.

Implement security controls, policies, and compliance requirements within the NSX-t environment, including access controls, encryption, logging, and monitoring, to protect against cyber threats and ensure regulatory compliance.

Create comprehensive documentation, including design documents, configuration guides, and operational procedures, and provide training and knowledge transfer to IT staff on NSX-t technologies and best practices.

  • It would be an advantage to have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. VMware certifications, such as VMware Certified Professional - Network Virtualisation (VCP-NV) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Network Virtualisation Deployment (VCAP-NV), are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as a network engineer with a focus on VMware NSX-t, including design, implementation, and administration of NSX-t solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancers, with hands-on experience in configuring and troubleshooting network devices.
  • Expertise in VMware vSphere virtualisation technologies and platforms, including vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, and virtual machine networking, with the ability to integrate NSX-t with vSphere environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, Python, or Ansible, for automating NSX-t deployment, configuration, and management tasks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Experience with other VMware products and technologies, such as VMware vRealize Suite, VMware Cloud Foundation, or VMware Cloud on AWS, and their integration with NSX-t.
  • Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) concepts and technologies beyond NSX-t, including SD-WAN, SD-Access, and network function virtualisation (NFV).
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and their integration with NSX-t for hybrid and multi-cloud networking.
  • Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS, and experience in implementing security controls within NSX-t environments to meet regulatory requirements.
  • UK Security Check (SC) clearance is required for this position. Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain SC clearance.
