Junior Data Engineer
We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Junior Data Engineer. You will be responsible to conduct data engineering activities to a deliver a world-class level of condition monitoring. Typical activities will include working on pipelines and other infrastructure to support data analysis, productionising algorithms, working with other members of the cross Analytics team, supporting new product development and supporting production systems in terms of managing cloud infrastructure and services
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Work with the Data Science Engineers to facilitate access to data, update existing libraries to incorporate new datasets and productionise new processing techniques.
- To work on software to support the work of the analytics team. Keep any software intended for re-use under source control and publicise new software tools/libraries to the team where suitable. Include automated tests for any software that is to be deployed to the cloud/production.
- Support (mainly cloud) infrastructure and services to allow the analytics data processing software to be operated reliably and efficiently. Work with the Data Engineering Lead to implement cloud native applications that are capable of scaling to meet future demands.
- Work with the Data Engineering lead to implement the latest cloud technologies and aid adoption by the wider team, where appropriate.
- Support continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines (where appropriate) to automate critical aspects of software.
- Follow internal development and release processes.
- Mange equipment and cloud infrastructure following cybersecurity policies, manage and update software as required.
About You
- A BSc degree in a STEM subject
- A high degree of competency in a programming language suitable for data engineering
- Excellent communication skills
- Awareness of software engineering practices
- Good .Net programming skills
- Understanding of typical Data Engineering activities
- A proactive, problem-solving approach
- Ability and ambition to learn, both technical skills and domain knowledge
