IT Project Manager

Gleeson Recruitment Group have just been briefed on an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Project Manager to join a growing organisation in Birmingham.

This role is working for a business who are undergoing substantial change across the entire business and with this change comes growth. You will be apart of a growing technology team reporting directly to the CIO.

We are looking for someone who has experience running multiple projects simultaneously with a focus being on infrastructure upgrades and implementations. The successful candidate will need to have a background in multi business systems and will have needed to run multiple projects focusing on business systems. It would also be essential for the successful candidate to clearly demonstrate their experience within risk management.

As an IT Project Manager you will be responsible for the successful delivery, ensuring excellent client experience is achieved. Projects will include upgrading of existing systems, implementation of new systems, infrastructure consolidation and decommissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership across IT projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Responsible for all aspects of project management, including planning, risks, dependencies, quality, resources and stakeholder management.
  • Plan and control projects. This includes monitoring, risk analysis, change control & contingency planning whilst maintaining the overall direction and integrity of the project.
  • Define project scope, objectives, performance goals, deliverable, plans, timelines, milestones and business benefits that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain core project management assets throughout the project lifecycle including requirements register / backlog, work package definitions / user stories, project plans, RAID register, project budget and testing / quality assurance logs.
  • Allocate and manage resources effectively to ensure project success.
  • Effectively manage project team members, fostering a positive work environment that encourages collaboration and optimizes team performance.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and timelines. Manage project milestones and deliverables.

  • Plan and manage iterations within the project, ensuring deliverables are up to standard and shipped on time.
  • Proactive identification and resolution of project risks and issues.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the project. This includes clients, team members, management, and suppliers.
  • Progress monitoring and reporting, including presentation of project status and key decisions to IT Leadership team and project steering groups, where required.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, risk registers, and lessons learned.
  • Work with the IT Security Officer and Group Compliance Director to ensure all new software, services or processes are compliant with the Information Security Framework, ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials + accreditations.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) for new systems.
  • To liaise as necessary with other teams within the business
  • Any other additional duties as deemed necessary to support the business.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in project management and Agile methodologies, within an IT environment
  • Delivery of IT projects across Applications, Cloud Services and Infrastructure domains.
  • Experience of working with business stakeholders to gather and analyse their requirements and using software functionality to meet those requirements.
  • Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies.
  • Proficient in identifying, managing, and mitigating project risks.
  • Experience in using project management software tools, applications, and MS Office.
  • Positive, proactive and self-motivated individual.
  • Exhibit dynamic leadership skills to guide and inspire project teams effectively.
  • A strong character with the ability to influence people across the to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Proven ability to engage stakeholders effectively throughout project cycles.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to work under pressure and achieve deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to deliver messages clearly and concisely in line with the recipient's viewpoint, be that technical, managerial or strategic.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar certification preferred.
