What is GlobalData Strategic Intelligence?

Strategic Intelligence was launched in 2019 to complement GlobalData’s core market intelligence subscription research business. Its aim is to help our clients understand the big strategic issues – or ‘themes’ – transforming the future of their industry. We help our clients adapt their strategy to address technology themes, macroeconomic themes, industry themes and ESG themes. The target audience for Strategic Intelligence is decision makers in large companies within a range of industries, from technology to consumer, banking, pharma, industrials, energy and retail.

The role…

Reporting to the Technology Research Director, GlobalData Strategic Intelligence, this role entails being the lead analyst within the Strategic Intelligence unit on several of the following tech themes: artificial intelligence, cloud, quantum computing, connectivity, data centers, data analytics, internet of things, automation, robotics, and semiconductors.

The best candidates will have a strong knowledge of some or all of these technologies, understand the key drivers, and be able to articulate the strategic implications across a range of industry verticals, including offering practical guidance to clients on implementation.

The role will involve writing thematic reports, using our proprietary thematic methodology, presenting our results to clients across all industries and occasionally working on custom assignments for individual clients.  

Key responsibilities:

-Write and update thematic reports in tech themes including like artificial intelligence, cloud, quantum computing, connectivity, data centers, data analytics, internet of things, automation, robotics, and semiconductors

-Contribute to developing the team strategy

-Manage a team of junior analysts

-Lead client calls with a range of job personas from companies in various industries

-Conduct press interviews promoting GlobalData Strategic Intelligence

-Present at a range of internal and external events

-Pitch and deliver custom research projects

-Be able to build market forecast models from scratch

-Collaborate with senior analysts and sales people from across GlobalData

Role requirements:

-We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in technology research, particularly with a specialised focus on artificial intelligence (AI). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in analysing AI trends, advancements, and applications, and be able to provide deep insights into the AI landscape.

-5+ years’ experience as a technology analyst within the business intelligence, market research, equity research or consulting sectors

-Extensive understanding of some or all of these technologies: artificial intelligence, cloud, quantum computing, connectivity, data centers, data analytics, internet of things, automation, robotics, and semiconductors

-Excellent report writing skills, in particular the ability to explain complex technologies to a lay person

-Enthusiastic about serving clients across a range of industries from tech to consumer, banking, industrials, and healthcare

-Excellent presentation skills

-Exceptional team working skills

-Strong attention to detail

-Flexibility to work on new projects assigned by senior management at short notice

-Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.

-Strong market forecast modelling skills

-Experience of managing a team.

-Highly motivated self-starter.

-Inquisitiveness and curiosity, with a desire to extend knowledge of emerging tech themes

-Ability to think laterally – not just to analyse the current technology landscape, but to predict the future.

-Advanced MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word and analytical skills.
