Job summary

During one of the most important years for healthcare in history, our BI team rose to the challenges and supported the trust in making critical decisions while supporting patient flow and quality of care. This included using advanced forecasting models to predict COVID admissions, creating real time operational dashboards, and gaining access to never before seen data flows. We are moving forward fast with our Digital BI strategy, currently in the phase of implementing Tableau throughout the Trust, with lots of opportunities to develop technically. Main duties of the job

The Business Intelligence EPR Reporting Lead is responsible for supporting the delivery of the reporting strategy for data contained in the Trust's EPR system, they will work closely with both clinical teams and the wider Business Intelligence Team to scope, plan and deliver solutions that fulfill the Trust's clinical information reporting needs. The post holder will be a tenacious self-starter who will be able to engage directly with other Trusts and suppliers.

The Reporting Lead will ensure that reports are built using the Trust's reporting solutions in order to provide accurate, concise and clear information, ensuring compliance with national data definitions (where appropriate). The role will require analysis and manipulation of complex data sets to provide high quality EPR management information for the Trust's clinical staff and senior leaders. The post holder will regularly be required to make decisions on the best technical approach on specialist information issues and support any EPR data modelling or scenario testing for any service developments/changes.

A fundamental requirement of this role is the ability to engage with clinical staff to understand and deliver on their data requirements for delivering quality care to everyone.

Job responsibilities

Responsible for the development, preparation and maintenance of high quality analytical reports from the EPR system to support the Trust in performance management, clinical and operational processes. This will involve analysis, interpretation, synthesis and presentation of information reports to senior leaders; ensuring that they are advised of problems and presented with clear and concise solution options.

Support of any of the Trust-wide or Divisional Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP).

Attendance and participation in meetings as part of relevant EPR implementation project work streams where required; being able to clearly articulate complex and sensitive information to senior clinical, management and non clinical staff.

To lead, together with other Information Managers, the Information team staff to ensure they are motivated, effective and achieve their personal and team objectives. This includes line management HR functions, recruitment functions and ensuring staff are developed and appraised each year.

Understand and interpret complex ad-hoc information requests and respond appropriately to short deadlines. This entails the analysis, investigation and resolution of complex information issues.

To ensure procedures are in place for the efficient and effective provision of information on Statutory Returns for performance and operational management purposes.

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Demonstrate experience of NHS information management.
  • Expert level of skill in information analysis, including the ability to prepare high quality written reports turning data to information
  • The ability to exercise own initiative and work independently to achieve objectives and deadlines.
  • Ability to challenge and manage user expectations
Desirable
  • Previous experience of Sunrise EPR

Knowledge / Skills

Essential
  • Demonstrate excellent SQL skills - data management, interrogation & use of BI reporting tools
  • Demonstrate negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Detailed understanding of the importance of data quality
  • Excellent communication skills
