Senior Software Developer @Greencore


As part of their commitment to high quality in all aspects of operations, we are looking to grow our software development team with the addition of Senior Software Engineer. This is a new role that will add capacity as well as building on our expertise in key areas.

The existing development team is currently small but is set to grow as we bring existing commitments in-house in order to: (a) take on the delivery of internal application development, and (b) to support colleagues on their journey to get the most out of data and automation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Craft high quality code as well as to assist others in the development team to do likewise
  • Lead on bringing coding standards, approaches and patterns into play to ensure everything we produce is supportable, secure and delivers on Greencore's requirements
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management and communication skills; guide and support internal stakeholders with other teams within Greencore to provide testing, security and architectural frameworks. It will be your responsibility to deliver against these stakeholder requirements within the frameworks provided
  • Perform bug fixing and maintenance of our existing software estate. There will also be a level of user issue investigation, triaged and supported by our service desk teams
What you'll need:

Demonstrable experience, either through portfolio or interview of the following:
  • Professional experience (5 years plus) of working with JavaScript, Typescript and Node
  • A good understanding of C# and the .NET framework
  • Professional experience of a front-end frameworks such as React, Vue or similar
  • Demonstrate excellent understanding of database structures (SQL and NoSQL) as well as ACID principles
  • An in-depth understanding and experience of API calls, including adhering to best practices
  • An awareness and appreciation of micro server architecture
  • Knowledge and experience of working with design patterns (eg MVC, Structural, Behavioural)
  • Be approachable to team colleagues who have questions or need advice
  • Experience or awareness of development within an enterprise culture
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft tooling including Azure portal, MSSQL and MS DevOps
  • A willingness to learn new approaches to resolving problems
  • Strong experience in implementing processes for software testing
  • Expert in using git repositories and deployment pipelines
  • Champion good coding practices such as DRY, SOLID and Single Responsibility
  • An awareness of new technology trends and an interest in exploring their benefits
Desirable:
  • Awareness of Agile methodologies, associated roles and ceremonies
  • Be able to engage with non-technical stakeholders and effectively relay complex concepts
  • Experience with QA and testing process tools (for instance Playwright or SonarQube)
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes
