Highly Specialist Head and Neck Oncology Dietitian

Are you keen to be part of a specialist head and neck oncology dietetic team?

A Band 7 vacancy have arisen within the head and neck oncology dietetic team to cover maternity leave. The position is fixed term and are also offered as a secondment opportunity. The contract is for 6 months in the first instance with likelihood of extending to 1 year.

We are a well-established team of 6 specialist dietitians working in the Cancer Centre at Guy's Hospital and a further 3 specialist dietitians based in the Community Head and Neck Team (CHANT).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be based at Guy's Hospital managing patients across the cancer pathway from diagnosis requiring surgical and/or oncological treatment through to rehabilitation, survivorship and palliative care. Due to extended radiotherapy operating hours, there may be a requirement to cover an evening clinic in the future which would be on a rota with other dietitians. The post holder should also have the ability to cover ward rounds/MDT meetings from 8am.

As well as providing a highly specialist clinical service, Band 7 team members supervise the Band 6 team and take an active role in service development projects.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Dietetics or equivalent
  • Current State Registration
  • Postgraduate training behaviour change/motivational interviewing
  • Required to have attended relevant Post Graduate courses or be working at Masters level
Desirable
  • Advanced course in nutritional support e.g. PEN Group course
  • Evidence of further postgraduate study in specialist area

Experience

Essential
  • Substantial clinical experience
  • Previous experience at a senior level which must include experience in managing patients with head and neck cancer
  • Experience of training student dietitians and supervising junior staff
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Previous experience of conducting audit and delivering research
