Administrator and Summariser

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible Administrator and Summariser to join our busy but friendly GP surgery. The role of the Administrator and Summariser involves supporting the Practice with the provision of administrative services such as registering new patients and ensuring all GP-links and reports are completed in EMIS.

The successful candidate will need to be hard-working, flexible, enthusiastic and have excellent communication, attention to detail, administrative and IT skills. In addition, we are looking for someone who works well and remains calm under pressure and can work independently. Previous experience of a GP practice would be beneficial, but it is not essential as full training will be offered.

Main duties of the job

Main Roles

  • Summarising and filing of new patient notes
  • Processing GP2GP workflow for newly registered patients
  • Scanning and summarisation of document workflow
  • Allocating Path Lab results.
  • Registering new patients.
  • Ensuring all GP-links and reports are completed in EMIS.
  • Monitoring the practice email account in line with protocol.
  • Assisting with prescription requests during periods of staff absence or training.
  • Covering inbound telephone calls during periods of staff absence or training

The role includes access to highly sensitive information and the post holder should, therefore, ensure that they conduct their work with the strictest confidence and comply with information governance, data protection and record keeping policies at all times.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) with grade C or above in English

Experience

Essential
  • Good general computer skills experience of using Microsoft office e.g. Word, Excel
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
Desirable
  • Experience of working in an integrated multi skilled team
  • Experience of using EMIS web computer software.
  • Experience in the NHS e.g. a GP Practice.
