Pharmacy IM&T Analyst - Band 4

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated and flexible individual to join the IM&T team within the Department of Pharmacy at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

By joining the Pharmacy IM&T team, you will get an opportunity to gain additional experience, keep your skills up to date and develop new ones especially around IT and business intelligence.

The department of pharmacy employs around two hundred people and manages the procurement and distribution of drugs worth around £100m in a year at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. It has three dispensing robots that are interfaced with its stock control and dispensing system. The use of different IT systems to support patient care on a daily basis makes the role of the IM&T Team a vital one in the department and it also makes it a rewarding experience to support colleagues for their various IT and information related requirements. The Trust is keen to support professional development of the entire pharmacy workforce and you will be expected to support, motivate and engage with others.

You must be educated to A level and must have a good working knowledge of MS Office applications and SQL and should be able to manage your own work to meet deadlines. Any previous experience in hardware and software troubleshooting and IT support is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for upholding an excellent service whilst maintaining the IT assets of the pharmacy department and will be the first line of contact for any IT support queries. You will support Pharmacy colleagues and other areas within the Trust by producing reports and analyses to support management decision making and to meet legal and financial requirements. The post holder will be expected to show initiative in setting up and supporting information systems to help senior and middle managers in the department to make strategic decisions and to monitor performance.

Education & Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to A-level standard or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Desirable
  • NVQ3 in IT Applications
  • ECDL Advanced

Experience

Essential
  • Ability to query/analyse complex patient level data for reporting and audit purposes.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills to complex problem solving in a structured manner
Desirable
  • Experience working in a management Information environment analysing data using a variety of sources/information systems or in an IT support role
  • Experience in using Ascribe Pharmacy System and any Business Intelligence Systems
  • Experience using Hospital administration systems e.g. Lorenzo.
