Job summary

The Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance is looking for an experienced and skilled Project Delivery Manager to take on this role, were looking for an authentic and self-motivated individual with a proven track record of successful project management who is looking for an opportunity to develop their skills and take on the project management of defined elements of a larger programme of work.

Experience of Non-Surgical Oncology services is desirable but not essential, as Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance is clinically led, and the Non-Surgical Oncology transformational programme has been designed with the Non-Surgical Oncology Clinical Delivery Group focusing on operational performance recovery, implementation of oral SACT services, streamlining SACT Pre-assessment, delivering SACT workforce sustainability, piloting a Immunotherapy CNS role, delivering clinical education, and exploring the use of Radiotherapy AI.

The Project Delivery Manager role is an exciting opportunity to shape Non-Surgical Oncology services within Humber and North Yorkshire, working collaboratively with provider, patient, and public stakeholders, addressing health inequalities, and driving workforce and digital innovation to design and deliver sustainable services for the future.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role are:

The project management and day to day running of one or more large scale transformation projects

The setting up and planning of the project(s) including project steering groups, project assurance function and any project teams

Ensuring that the project reporting adheres to the Cancer Alliance programme governance framework

Ensuring effective communication to all stakeholders

Identify and manage the risks associated with each project

Managing the change brought about by the project effectively and efficiently

Maintaining knowledge of local, regional and national projects that are current and pending

Provide expert project management advice and support to other staff and teams within the Cancer Alliance and partner organisations

Make a significant contribution to the development of the Programme Management Office team as well as leading on specific projects.

The Non-Surgical Oncology programme is the newest programme within the Alliance, amongst other well established and successful programmes of work. The NSO Programme is looking to expand to support Non-Surgical Oncology Services (Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment and Radiotherapy services) to deliver a plan of improvement projects to reduce variation, improve access to services and improve outcomes.

The role is full time, 37.5hrs a week, working a 9am-5pm shift pattern, there is no weekend working or on call responsibility. Part time may be considered

Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance has planned to undertake an ambitious and exciting transformational programme of work in Non-Surgical Oncology in 24/25, and this Project Delivery Manager role will play a key part in delivering the required transformation, providing robust project management and ensure specifically determined elements of the programme plan are delivered according to the ambitions of the Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance 24/25 operational delivery plan.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas and knowledge relevant to the role acquired through masters level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between NHSE, provider and commissioning organisations and the broader health and care system
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
