Server Engineer

Server Engineer - Northamptonshire/Hybrid - upto £40,000 plus package

I am currently on the hunt for a proactive, detail-oriented professional with robust server experience and a willingness to collaborate across teams to ensure a secure, efficient IT environment for a client of ours!

You will work closely with the senior leadership team and various department managers. The successful candidate should have at least three years' experience in a server engineering role and you'll be required to spend two to three days a week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage a mix of on-premise and cloud-based Linux/Windows server environments.
• Perform system backups, integrity checks, and error log reviews, using data from various management tools (eg Bitdefender, network access control) to mitigate threats.
• Act as a final escalation for unresolved issues, devising procedures around disaster recovery and testing.
• Own assigned support tickets through to resolution within agreed SLAs.
• Patch and upgrade the Linux server fleet, coordinating with the software department to replace out-of-date or end-of-life operating systems and applications.
• Deploy and support Azure-based solutions along with server and desktop environments.

Essential Skills & Experience

• DHCP & DNS (public and private) expertise
• Linux Servers - CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu, Ansible (deployment, configuration, administration)
• Windows Servers - 2008R2 through 2022
• Active Directory
• Server deployment and updates, network/Firewall maintenance, monitoring (ACLs, VPNs)
