Role Title: SAN Automation Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: Until 30/11/24

Role Description:

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out tasks to support the certification, testing and development of new features and platforms on our SAN Infrastructure, primarily Dell PowerMax/Vmax-3/XtremIO, Pure FlashArray, HP Primera and Cirrus DMS using Broadcom and Cisco SAN Switches/directors and iSCSI connectivity
  • Develop automation to support the above requirements, covering support, install, provisioning, migration management/compliance
  • Provide development capabilities to our Enterprise Services, including platform services (UNIX and Linux Servers, Windows and storage) for securely storing/analysing data as well as Developer Services which enable faster delivery of highly standardised platform services, for example, Virtualisation, ALM, Dev Engineering, Development and Cloud.
  • Risk and Cost Management
  • Ensure Service Quality Targets are met for offered platform services
  • Business stakeholder management to define product roadmaps and market available capabilities
  • Write development code, understand a DevOps Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline, and build automated test scripts (for infrastructure products and upgrades), and build automation interfaces between systems

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Expertise in Server operating systems - Linux RHEL/Windows/VMware
  • Some knowledge of Dell PowerMax/Vmax3/SRDF/XtremIO, Pure FlashArray, HPE Primera, Cirrus DMS beneficial
  • Experience in using Python, Ansible, and Shell Scripting languages to implement storage automation and as-a-service offerings
  • Capable of product testing and qualification.
  • Well experienced in server and storage remediation
  • Past working experience in a storage/Scripting/automation role
  • Knowledge of Scrum, Kanban or other agile frameworks
  • Work with Agile methodology, representing the Pod and Area lead in standups and problem-solving meetings
  • Infrastructure as Code and automation/orchestration technologies, such as Puppet/Chef/Ansible Tower/Jenkins
  • Experience of source control, Continuous Integration, Delivery and Deployment through CICD Pipelines
  • Experience working in relevant environment/s, ie server engineering in a similar function is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working in relevant market/context, ie IT in finance, Storage is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is desirable but not essential
  • Role relevant qualifications, ie EMC, Pure, cloud related is desirable but not essential
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change.
  • Self-awareness with confidence to work independently and take responsibility for own development
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • Planned projects and activities systematically in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Experience of building effective customer relationships which create customer advocacy
  • Willingness to undertake the training/study required in this role for new products and services
