DeFi Protocol Engineer

Our client is a leading and well-established player in both DeFi and CeFi Quantitative Systematic Crypto Trading. The business is very well capitalised and has recently expanded its front office team of Quants and Traders. As a consequence, there is a need to expand the DeFi Engineering team. Our client is open to applicants of various ranges of experience and have no set limit on the base salary and offer exceptional bonuses.

The role is focused on generating returns from systematic on-chain trading and supporting the existing token market-making business by providing both on and off-chain liquidity. The firm also looks to generate profit via prop trading and yield and lending protocols. This role has a backend development focus so an intricate understanding of how to interact with Blockchain Nodes is essential.

You will have a strong interest in DeFi, an understanding of MEV related trading and be able to interact with a Blockchain programmatically. Ideally you will have Rust and Solidity experience but our client is agnostic with regards to your tech stack provided you have the requisite knowledge of DeFi and/or MEV trading protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: DeFi Protocol Engineer

• Collaborate closely with the Quant Trading Team and other engineers throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept to final delivery.
• The role includes both on-chain and off-chain coding, focusing on building secure and high-performance systems.
• Implement features to support new and existing trading strategies.
• Design and develop robust, scalable software for on-chain systematic trading.
• Maintain and enhance off-chain applications that support pricing, order management, real-time risk, and monitoring.
• Write smart contracts to ensure efficient and secure on-chain execution.
• Stay updated with developments in DeFi to identify short-term opportunities and shape our long-term strategy.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: DeFi Protocol Engineer

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience writing production quality code in an Object-Oriented Language  
• Demonstrable experience of interacting with Blockchain Nodes from a programmatic perspective
• Demonstrable knowledge of DeFi and ideally MEV related trading
• Experience with web3 related technologies e.g. Solidity, Rust
• A familiarity/awareness of DEXs, protocol mechanics, blockchain fundamentals and smart contract security
