Apprentice CNC Operator - Engineer

Working within the Secondary Process CNC section, you will be responsible for the production of high-quality components via the operation of modern, three and four axis, CNC machining centres. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will be capable of interpreting engineering drawings and utilising Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).

Role

Working within the Secondary Process CNC section, you will be responsible for the production of high-quality components via the operation of modern, three and four axis, CNC machining centres.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will be capable of interpreting engineering drawings and utilising Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to produce parts on various horizontal and vertical CNC machines.

Responsibilities

  • Identify specifications of the machining requirements through successful understanding of the part setup sheets, engineering drawings and working instructions.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines by hand or through use of overhead cranes, safely and as per standard procedures.
  • Set machines to pre-determined machining setups and tooling requirements.
  • Production of first-off sample, prepared for initial inspection.
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments
  • Inspect and measure finished products, ensuring that the component quality requirements are met.
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
  • Assist in work centre housekeeping and any 5s activities.

Training

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Technical Support
  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date.
