A market leader in engineered solutions for the handling and treatment of water and wastewater, this business operates across the UK, Europe, and the US. With a long-standing reputation for innovation and excellence, they provide industry-leading pumping solutions, on-site water treatment, and pollution prevention services.

As part of their ongoing growth, they are looking to strengthen their technology capabilities with the addition of a Head of Data to lead their data strategy and digital transformation.


The Head of Data will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the data strategy to support the organisation's digital transformation and long-term goals.

This role will oversee data governance, architecture, and analytics, ensuring the business fully leverages its data assets to enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement. Leading the data management and analytics teams, you will work closely with senior management and business leaders to deliver advanced data solutions, drive innovation, and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the company's business goals and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Lead the development of advanced analytics platforms, including data science, machine learning, and AI, to drive innovation and operational improvements.
  • Oversee the design and maintenance of the data architecture, ensuring it supports organisational needs and aligns with enterprise standards.
  • Work closely with senior management and technical teams to deliver actionable insights that support decision-making and drive business metrics.
  • Ensure data governance policies are enforced, covering data quality, integrity, privacy, and security, with a focus on compliance with regulations such as GDPR.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing data team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the deployment of data infrastructure that enables efficient data processing, analysis, reporting, and visualisation using tools such as Power BI and Azure data services.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong expertise in data architecture, governance, and analytics, with a proven track record of delivering strategic data solutions that drive business value.
  • Extensive experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, including Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Databricks.
  • Proficiency in Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Stream Analytics for real-time analytics.
  • Familiarity with Azure Purview for data governance and Azure Machine Learning for building predictive models.
  • Demonstrated experience leading data teams and aligning data strategies with business objectives.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to leverage Azure tools to drive performance improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications in Azure Data Engineering or Azure Solutions Architecture are highly desirable, along with certifications in data management and analytics (e.g., DAMA, CDMP).
  • Experience managing global data strategies and ensuring compliance with regional data regulations.
  • Willingness to travel to various business locations as needed.
