Job summary

The role will support the Business Intelligence team in their daily work.The role will need to adapt as the Business intelligence function of the organisation develops and matures.

Main duties of the job

Support the analysis and reporting of all data systems that underpin the PCL service

Support reporting requirements for NHS England and other relevant organisations such as the ICBs, service providers etc

Work as a key member of the Business Intelligence and Enabling Service team, supporting with business intelligence, service improvements, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement both internally and externally.

Foster a customer-centric approach, driving service improvements and promoting business growth.

To effectively carry out the role, the business intelligence support analyst will need to establish and maintain a network of positive working relationships across a wide range of organisations

Job description

Job responsibilities

Support the analysis and reporting of all data systems that underpin the PCL service

Assist the Head of Business Intelligence in producing high-quality reports on business performance and analysis

Support reporting requirements for NHS England and other relevant organisations such as the ICBs service providers etc

Ensure all reporting systems are efficient fit for purpose and recommend improvements where necessary

Work as a key member of the Business Intelligence and Enabling Service team, supporting with business intelligence service improvements ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement both internally and externally

Understand your role within safeguarding procedures that operate within the service

Dashboard management. Ensure dashboard refreshes regularly and escalate failure if required. To be responsible for communicating out to the organisation to let them know that dashboards are available and ready to use

Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide effective solutions

Assist in gathering and consolidating data from multiple sources to support informed decision-making

Ensure the accurate and timely completion of both regular and ad-hoc reports

Support the development, implementation and refinement of business intelligence policies and procedures

Foster a customer-centric approach driving service improvements and promoting business growth

To support the BI Team in all matters relating internal and external routine

submissions and reports

To act as an Analyst in the area designated to the post holder, ensuring that you maintain a basic understanding of the business processes performance analysis and information reporting requirements

Support the interpretation of complex quantitative and qualitative data and information from multiple sources taking account of confidentiality and the limitations of the data used

To investigate data anomalies identified before analyses instigating corrective action as required

Support benchmarking analyses to support continuous improvement in the efficiency of clinical services

Take lead on a small area of work e.g. a Service Request with the support and guidance of a senior member of the team. Building relationships, knowledge and responsibility of this service area across the organisation

Support external data flows as required ensuring timely accurate documented data flows are established and maintained

To work within the teams, sign off and assurance mechanism, such as updated the mandatory return submission log and ensure authorisation when required for data which is to be sent external to the organisation

Support the use of automated tools and technologies wherever possible when creating reports with a view to self-service reporting by the customer

Take responsibility for ensuring all mandatory training is up to date

To ensure all processes are appropriately documented and stored in the designated area, to enable others to cross cover when necessary

Able to work autonomously and under pressure to meet strict deadlines

Aware of own limitations and seeks appropriate support to manage frequent fluctuation and conflicting demands

Post holder will be flexible and able to prioritise workload in order to meet deadlines, be able to negotiation deadlines as and when required to manage competing priorities

To support improvements in the Trusts data quality and where necessary the Data Quality team including the completion of Data Quality Assurance reviews on key metrics

Responsible for the safe use of office equipment, submitting own travel expenses

To effectively carry out the role the business intelligence support analyst will need to establish and maintain a network of positive working relationships across a wide range of organisations

Contacts with NHS bodies such as ICB Health Care Providers and NHS England

Contacts with partner agencies such as Local Authorities

Contacts with commercial organisations such as product and service suppliers

The Business Intelligence Support Analyst will also need to establish and maintain productive working relationships with all PCL colleagues

Person Specification

Experience

Essential
  • Good software skills such as Microsoft Office packages in particular Excel
  • Working knowledge of how to work with data to compile charts and visuals which support customer insight.
  • Ability to produce timely accurate written/electronic reports and documents
  • Good communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Effective organisational skills
Desirable
  • Previous Knowledge of data analysis
  • Awareness of one or more of the following BI/Analytical tools to extract, manipulate and interpret data: MS Excel MS PowerBI SSRS Business Objects SQL
  • Knowledge of data management
  • Knowledge of visualization tools
