This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trusts plans to build new hospitals. With an award-winning, multi-disciplinary Programme Team and as one of the largest new hospital projects in the UK, the Trusts Programme Team combines clinical and design expertise, construction/project management excellence, and specialist roles. It works in a fast-paced and collaborative environment with responsibility for the planning, design, construction and delivery of the new hospital.

We are looking for a Project Manager who can demonstrate excellent written and presentation skills and strong technical project management skills with an ability to bring innovation and ideas to delivery. The postholder to be responsive and flexible and require the management of multiple complex issues having an ability to work from their own initiative as well as working collaboratively.

The role should be considered an on-site role with the opportunity to take advantage from the Trusts flexible working policies. The role shall be required to work from any of the Trusts premises, although is expected to be predominantly based at the LGI site or nearby premises. The role shall involve travel as and where necessary.

Main duties of the job

The BtLW Project Manager shall working within the BtLW Programme Team with the responsibility for the management and delivery of a range of projects and/or project matters that may include operational, policy, procurement and/or construction-related matters. It is expected that the role shall also provide dedicated general Project Management delivery support to the BtLW Programme Director and Deputy Programme Director in the delivery and management of specialist projects, initiatives, New Hospital Programme (NHP) matters and providing wider specialist Project Management support to the Programme Team.

The nature of this specific role is diverse working closely with the Programme Director/Deputy Programme Director on standalone initiatives and planning matters, but also providing support to: the co-ordination of CSU project/programme inputs; development of the design and design review processes; management and delivery of project workstream activities; communication and engagement activities; the implementation of change management activities; and providing general project management support to the process, operationalisation and physical transition to the new hospital facilities.

Experience

Essential
  • Project Management competencies, including well developed planning and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of managing projects (capital or non-capital) and/or sub-projects within larger programmes.
  • Experience in establishing project plans, tracking progress, managing resources, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Desirable
  • Experience of working within/involved in the delivery of capital projects.
  • Knowledge of change management practices tools and techniques.
  • Experience of delivering Operational and Policy related projects within a Healthcare or Construction environment.

Skills & Behaviours

Essential
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and including presentation skills.
  • Able to think strategically and to analyse complex issues.
  • To have demonstrably strong influencing, negotiating and communication skills and the ability to listen and respond to the needs of a wide range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree in relevant discipline/ or demonstration of relevant transferrable knowledge and skills.
  • Post graduate qualification to Masters level or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
Desirable
  • Project / Programme Management Qualification such as Prince 2, APM PMQ, MSP or equivalent experience.
  • Technical related design and construction project management experience.
