This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trusts plans to build new hospitals. With an award-winning, multi-disciplinary Programme Team and as one of the largest new hospital projects in the UK, the Trusts Programme Team combines clinical and design expertise, construction/project management excellence, and specialist roles. It works in a fast-paced and collaborative environment with responsibility for the planning, design, construction and delivery of the new hospital.

We are looking for a Technical Design Co-ordinator with knowledge and expertise in technical design and construction projects. Reporting to the Technical Design Managers (Architectural & MEPH), you will be responsible for providing effective and efficient technical co-ordination support to the Architectural and MEPH Technical Design Managers ensuring that technical processes are clearly defined, effective and maintained in a manner to support the delivery of the project, sub-projects and workstream activities.

The role should be considered an on-site role with the opportunity to take advantage from the Trusts flexible working policies. The role shall be required to work from any of the Trusts premises, although is expected to be predominantly based at the LGI site or nearby premises. The role shall involve travel as and where necessary.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for managing processes and providing effective technical support to the Technical Design Managers, and you will lead on the delivery of technical support and advice to projects and reviewing technical information (under the direction of the Technical Design Managers).

You will also have responsibility for project managing all digital twin work and act as the Programmes Project Information Manager and Soft Landings Champion under the direction of the Technical Design Manager and other specialist resources i.e. from the Digital Workstream.

This role sits within the Project Delivery Team which oversees the delivery of several workstreams including, digital, clinical planning, architectural design and construction, workforce and change management. The role is integral in ensuring that the design and delivery technical elements of workstreams are coordinating in line with the development of the wider programme.

This is a dynamic role, and you will be involved in several projects at any one time; key attributes required for this role are the ability to work autonomously in a fast moving environment, the ability to plan and execute own workload and to exercise judgement and astuteness.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree qualified in relevant subject (Architecture, Construction, Mechanical or Electrical engineering etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Post-graduate qualification to Masters level or equivalent experience in relevant subject.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable
  • Foundation-level programme or project management qualification
  • Relevant professional body membership

  • Ability to analyse complex technical information and report information in a range of formats.

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of technical design matters within construction projects.
  • Experience of managing workstreams, sub-projects and/or technical processes in construction projects.
  • Understanding of key technical design considerations and requirements of healthcare facilities.
Desirable
  • Practical knowledge and experience of working with NEC contracts.
  • Experience of using CAD software.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of HTM, HBM and other relevant Healthcare design standards and knowledge of other design standards including CIBSE, BSRIA. Knowledge of NHP design standards.
