We are looking for a Service Manager to join the Trust's Occupational Health Team for a period of 9-12 months to provide maternity leave cover. The Occupational Health Team are using the Leeds Improvement Method to deliver significant change to the services we provide and are seeking an individual who is committed to delivering continuous improvement within teams. Over the next 12 months we will be introducing a new IT system, so we are particularly interested in digitally confident applicants. A strong operational background and experience of managing capacity and demand is essential.

Main duties of the job

The Service Manager will manage a complex programme of inter-dependent projects across the OH Service to ensure development of financially affordable solutions to capacity and quality constraints. This will enable the development, delivery and maintenance of all targets, activity plans and maximisation of data capture and coding efficiencies. Working in partnership with clinical staff, external clients managers and users, the post holder will lead the redesign of services and business processes, and be responsible for facilitating the involvement of all stakeholders to ensure timescales are met and service benefits realised. The Service Manager will ensure that robust activity and financial management systems are in place during the planning period to maintain business continuity. Specifically, the post holder will line manage the Business Manager, ensuring that operational and access targets are met, and take the lead in developing effective business processes and systems within the department to enable the sustained delivery of key operational targets.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will lead on the delivery of operational service targets within the Clinical Service Unit to ensure that income is maximised and targets achieved together with line managing the Clinical Service Unit Business Manager where appropriate, and have overall accountability for the performance of the patient administration function, ensuring services are managed within agreed budgets.

The role will also ensure the development of effective business systems and procedures within the Clinical Service Unit together with ensuring that robust activity and financial management systems are in place to maintain business continuity during the planning and commissioning of the service plans.
