Assistant Technical Officer - Pharmacy Radiopharmacy

Job summary

We are a small friendly team providing a Radiopharmacy service to several Trusts within the region and work very closely with their nuclear medicine departments. We prepare radioactive medicines used in the diagnosis (scans) and treatment of a wide range of illnesses for patients across the Cheshire and Merseyside region. To do this we use pharmaceutical cleanrooms and special equipment.

We are based in the Royal Liverpool Hospital and will be moving to the brand new facility very soon. We need to expand our team to help us prepare the new facility whilst we keep the current one going too.

We are now looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals to support us with this move. You need to have the desire and ability to be trained to carry out technical tasks to a high standard. This will require concentration and carefully following written procedures. Full training will be provided but experience in cleaning and disinfection of clinical areas or pharmacy clean rooms would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The condition of our clean rooms is vital to our ability to prepare medicines. All materials being transferred into the preparation areas must also be clean in order to achieve the best quality medicines for our patients.The successful post holders will work alongside senior ATOs and technologists in preparing our facilities and equipment for use each day to manufacture medicines.The post holders will work as a team to carry out Cleaning and Disinfection of rooms and equipment with specialist materials before and after production each day. During production any materials being transferred into the clean rooms will also be cleaned and disinfected according to strict procedures. Participation in other support duties such as placing orders, stock rotation and waste management will also be possible.No prior experience is required as full training will be provided and assessment of competence carried out. See Job Description for further details:The post will primarily be working in pharmaceutical cleanrooms, although there will be a rotation into the purchasing of medicines and consumables. No experience of cleanroom activities or working within a pharmacy unit are required. If you would like to know more we are happy to show you round the facilities.Our current working hours are 6.30am until 4.00pm (although these are subject to review as the needs of the service develop). The post holders will work their hours between these times according to a shift rota. Specific shift preferences will be discussed at interview.
