Assistant Technical Officer in Cardio Respiratory

Job summary

An Exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 3 assistant technical officer's within the Cardio Respiratory department to deliver Cardiorespiratory services to the Trust and as necessary, services to other LUHFT Trust sites or other appropriate healthcare site.

To be an effective member of the Cardiorespiratory Department by providing a high standard of Cardiac and Respiratory Physiological service and patient care. It is understood that the post holder may possible be required to participate in a flexible working hours system and between hospital sites (Aintree, Broadgreen, Community and Royal)

Main duties of the job

The member of staff will undertakes a range of clinical physiology investigations to a very high standard.

The post holder will undertake comprehensive ECG and spirometry training to become competent in performing and interpreting ECGs / Spirometry.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Recording ECGs
  • Fitting and removal of ambulatory monitoring devices
  • Spirometry
  • Alerting medical staff when abnormalities are noted on ECG e.g. in A&E.
  • BLS trained.
  • Assist in stock control of consumable items used in clinical physiology.
  • Responsible for the safe use of departmental equipment.
  • Recognise and confirm accuracy of reported equipment faults and ensure details are documented and appropriate steps taken for their correction.
  • Ensure clean and tidy procedure environments are maintained. Assist with maintenance of local risk management policies.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • GCSE in Maths, English and Science Grade C or above or equivalent or equivalent work based experience

Experience

Desirable
  • Previous experience as an ATO
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting

Skills

Essential
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emotive environment
Desirable
  • Competency in Electrocardiography procedures and Spirometry
