Principal Network Engineer

ROLE SUMMARY:

As the High-Skills Network Technical Lead, your main responsibility will be to ensure the ongoing support and reliability of all components within the LSEG ecosystem, including platforms, networks, applications, and services. In this role, you will provide 4th-line support to the Network Products and Services functions, ensuring the operational stability and adaptability of the LSEG global network. Your key focus will be on creating and maintaining software automation that improves the reliability and availability of digital platforms and their software delivery pipelines.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

1. You will play a meaningful role in designing, building, and maintaining systems, software, and applications across various domains. Your goal is to achieve the highest quality outcomes.
2. Independently, you'll make technical design and amendment decisions, leading the workload effectively.
3. By analysing data and understanding business requirements, you'll translate them into technical requirements, ensuring alignment with infrastructure and network capacity needs.
4. You'll complete relevant reporting documentation, ensuring it adheres to both internal and external standards.
5. Collaborating closely with other business areas, you'll schedule and coordinate capacity and network upgrades, meeting service level objectives.
6. When vital, you'll lead upgrades, coordinating efforts with internal teams and third parties.
7. Building accurate documentation and monitoring system performance are essential to contribute optimally to business activities and continuous improvement.
8. You'll support the deployment of emergent engineering patterns across development teams.
9. Contributing to creating solutions, you'll coordinate design work within the infrastructure and network domain.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

1. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field is essential.
2. Previous roles in architecture or engineering are valuable.
3. Significant experience in technology-focused positions is crucial.
4. Extensive knowledge of routing and switching protocols, with a preference for CCIE certification, is highly desirable.
5. Proven years of experience in network products and services, ideally working with Cisco, Juniper, and Arista technologies while actively pursuing further accreditation, is important.
6. Expertise spanning LAN, WAN, HSRP, NAT, MPLS, VPN, GRE, BGP, and OSPF is vital.
7. Knowledge of multicast concepts, including IGMP, RP, and PIM, is beneficial.
8. Familiarity with low-latency technologies commonly deployed in the financial sector is advantageous.
9. Excellent knowledge of network Packet analysis and Packet Capture tools gives to operational efficiency.
10. Experience with Data Centre Networking, including Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Cisco ACI, VxLAN, and related technologies, is valuable.
11. Understanding cloud environments and possessing knowledge of network security, including standard processes, is beneficial.
12. Familiarity with load balancing technologies, TCP/IP, and multicast in internet environments is important.
13. Proficiency in required Service Management processes, ideally with ITIL knowledge, is advantageous.
14. Exposure to the financial sector and its associated technologies is valuable.
15. Proficiency in Python and Ansible allows for streamlined tasks.
16. Strong spoken and written English language skills, combined with client management abilities, supply to successful collaboration.
