Job summary

The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust includes major teaching hospitals. A wide range of equipment is used for medical work - diagnosis, monitoring, therapy and technical work - throughout its wards, theatres, andclinical departments.Medical Engineering and Maintenance Department to deliver high quality medical device maintenance repair and management services within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the Manchester University Hospitals.

You will be mainly based at Wythenshawe hospital ICU Workshop.

We are looking to recruit a suitably experienced Senior Medical Engineer to join our team providing a leading role in our improvement programme for Medical Device Management and Maintenance

Ideally you will be qualified to HNC/Degree in electronics and have a minimum of three years' post qualification experience or equivalent.

You are expected to have specialist knowledge of scientific, electronic and engineering principles along with some Quality Management Systems and Health and Safety legislation. You will need to have a logical, methodical approach to your work and a passion for medical device safety. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and have excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

Educational Qualifications

Essential
  • HNC / HTEC / HND / Foundation Degree in electronics, plus specialist knowledge
Desirable
  • Professional Electronics knowledge through B Eng or equivalent, plus specialist knowledge

Skills & Knowledge

Essential
  • Knowledge of medical device management standards.
  • Knowledge of work planning and implementation of projects.
  • Knowledge and experience of structured training
  • Skills in either electronic, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a combination
  • Skills in analysing and diagnosing faults in complex equipment
  • Excellent communications skills, good planning and organisational skills, analytical skills
  • Working within a Quality Management System.
  • Able to produce clear written records and documentation

  • Servicing - experienced in maintaining a broad range of medical equipment
