Level 2 Engineering Operative - Fab / Weld Apprentice
Role
- Fabricate components by analysing requirements, welding parts
- Develops welding projects by analysing work orders, prints and completed assembly, calculating requirements, studying metals, determining approporiate welding techniques
- Collects equipment and materials by studying specifications and component requirements, order supplies and gases
- Verifies welding results by inspecting and testing welds
- Documents actions by completing records
- Maintains safe work environment by following procedures, complying with legal regulations
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining suppliers, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs as necessary
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Training
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Hereford (HR4 9SX):
Level 2 comprises of:
Duration approximately 18 months, which includes 24 weeks off the job training to cover practical and theory aspects working to complete the following qualifications:
EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills)
EAL Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge)
You will receive visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment.
Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.
There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.
