This role will focus primarily on the digital delivery of Smart Buildings for the Healthier Futures programme. The post holder will work on developing and implementing the key components of Smart / Intelligent Hospital buildings such as data standards, BIM and digital twin, together with intelligent systems such as BMS and Energy Management.

Job description
Job responsibilities
This role will also work on supporting the development of wider technical digital elements of the Smart Buildings and Intelligent Hospital Capabilities in support of the Smart Buildings Lead. This will include development of technical and delivery strategies in support of the smart building delivery, including specifically data standards, control, ownership to support the interoperability of systems across functions and platforms and cyber security across systems and platforms.
A key aspect of this role is also to ensure that the data produced and used across the smart buildings platforms is fully owned by MCHT and interchangeable with external market products.
The role will also support on procurement and commercial input with regards to smart building and digital technologies.
Many of these pieces of work are key to delivery of the outline business case (OBC) and full business case (FBC).
The post holder will have specialist technical experience within the digital and data services and in the Operational Estates and / or Capital Estate functions within an NHS environment, to be able to engage with key pieces of work for delivery within NHP deadlines.
They will work collaboratively with both the estates and facilities management and digital teams, both within the Healthier Futures team, wider Trust departments, Technical Partners and Healthier Future Design and Construction teams.
The post-holder will work to undertaking all aspects of the job role, with suitable training provided. It is expected that this role will be a development role, with scope for progression in the future as our Smart Buildings programme develops.
The post holder will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, experience in integrating multi technology platforms, good knowledge of data standards and brands of product across estates and digital functions and a good understanding of the Operational Estates function.
The post holder will also have an understanding of clinical systems and be aware of clinical operational delivery.
The post holder will have solid communication skills and a desire to tackle the complex problems of scale which are unique within the emerging field.
The post-holder will plan relevant projects that impact on the organisation including the architecture of implementing new technology onto the Trust network as a proof of concept in support of the main Healthier Futures Programme including data standards, Building Management Systems, Intelligent Energy and Command and Control Centre.
The post holder will have occasional exposure to patients during their role, namely to seek patient experiences of digital proof of concept work and delivery work.
Person Specification
Qualifications/Knowledge/Previous Experience
- Education to degree level or similar, within a relevant field such as IT or digital, estates, facilities, engineering etc.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Qualifications in programme or project management (PRINCE 2 or equivalent)
- Qualifications in health service management, such as change management, workforce redesign.
- Knowledge of the design and construction process.
Skills
- Significant experience of working within estates (Capital or Operational) and facilities environment or within digital/IT services.
- Success in working collaboratively with multiple departments.
- Understanding of smart hospitals and digital estates.
- Experience of working on capital programmes.
- Knowledge in smart hospitals and digital estates.
- Knowledge of data standards.
- Knowledge of Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) methodology.
