Job summary

The Healthcare Analytics department within Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a new Report Developer to join the team within its Analysis and Reporting function. This is a 24 month fixed term role to support the Trust's new transformational EPR programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who has established Power BI experience. The Healthcare Analytics department is pivotal to ensuring the data and analytics needs of the organisation are met and in supporting the organisation to make data driven, evidence based, decisions.

The team are currently working remotely and this role is being advertised as a remote role subject to the candidate having a suitable space to work from.

Main duties of the job

The Healthcare Analytics department is part of the Planning and Performance Directorate. It is comprised of the following functions: Analysis and Reporting, Data Warehousing and Data Engineering and Commissioning Information.

The Report Developer will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining various new reporting solutions, including automated reports and dashboards using Power BI, across a broad range of areas using data from a number of different systems, helping to support the Trust's objectives. The post holder is responsible for delivering high quality visualisation solutions to agreed specification and in accordance with departmental policies and best practice. These dashboards and reports will meet the needs of the divisions and the wider Trust using the best data sources available and using benchmarks where available and applicable.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining new reporting solutions using Power BI, SQL and other reporting tools. The Report Developer will work closely with a range of colleaguesusing knowledge of information systems and information flows to provide analysis and insights to help resolve current challenges. This is a varied and dynamic role, where focus can often switch depending on the current pressures that the Trust is facing. This will enable the successful candidate to get an excellent understanding of the workings of the NHS and make a difference.

The Report Developer will also be expected to develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of NHS data flows, datasets, information availability, scope, reliability and data quality issues. This includes a thorough understanding of the NHS data dictionary and knowledge of guidance for specific returns.

Essential
  • Minimum degree level qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable
  • Information Management Qualification

Experience

Essential
  • Expert user of Microsoft office products including advanced functions of MS Excel
  • Thorough understanding of NHS data definitions, reporting requirements, sources and information flows.
  • Significant experience of designing, developing and publishing reports and dashboards across a broad range of areas using PowerBI
  • Significant experience of extracting and processing data from multiple source systems using SQL
Desirable
  • Successful management and delivery of information related projects against formally monitored timescales
  • Knowledge of Data Protection and Data Quality Issues
  • Proven experience in delivering in a challenging environment and to tight deadlines
