  • To support the Digital Transformation Lead Technician.

Main duties of the job

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Coordinating the day-to-day provision of pharmacy data services.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of EPMA across the Trust.
  • To support with technical aspects of Pharmacy Digital systems across the Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust (MPFT).
  • To work with the Digital Improvement and Innovation team to translate clinical needs into digital solutions within the Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation department.
  • Leading the analysis, development and provision of reports on medicines expenditure, using complex data sets that require interpretation and comparison of a range of options to inform decision making by the pharmacy team, clinicians, Care Groups and committees. Ensure that all data and information is communicated in a meaningful way.
  • To support the development of the Discharge Medicine Service (DMS) and the development and implementation of other medicines optimisation technological developments.
  • To support the development of policies and SOPs with regard to electronic prescribing and pharmacy stock control systems to ensure safe medication practice.
  • Line Management of Junior staff.
  • To provide dispensary /Clinical/ Accuracy Checking Technician support (ACT) support to the dispensaries as required.
  • To support the Clinical Trials/Medicines Information Lead Pharmacy technician in the maintenance of the Clinical Trials service at MPFT.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for data analysis and report generation for pharmacy dispensary services, where information may be sensitive, contentious and complex.
  • To ensure the generation of reports on medicines to committees on performance improvement in relation to drug expenditure.
  • Support for the implementation of EPMA across the Trust.
  • Support on the development of policies and procedures.
  • Line management responsibility for the Pharmacy Invoice Clerk (see organisational chart).
  • Support for the formulary pharmacist including PGD and ESCA development.
  • Support for Dispensary/Clinical duties across the Redwoods, St Georges Hospital and Haywood Hospital as needed.
  • Support the Clinical Trials service.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • oBTEC and NVQ3 (or equivalent level) in Pharmaceutical Science.
  • oRegistered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • oAdvanced Excel training

Experience

Essential
  • oExperience of working as a registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • oExperience of working within the NHS and Hospital pharmacy experience.
  • oRecent experience in medicines management
  • oKnowledge of NHS Structures, Systems and Culture.
