Digital Operational Lead

Job summary

It's an exciting time for Moorfields, our current priorities include building a new hospital (Oriel), introducing an EPR and moving towards the future eye care pathway.

Our organisational strategy sets our purpose in working together to discover, develop and deliver excellent eye care, sustainably and at scale.

We have a bold set of ambitions within our organisational strategy to deliver transformed eye care through digital innovation, and to provide a sector-leading digital front door for all patients to access our services.

Over the next five years we will deliver our strategic vision through our excellence portfolio, made up of five core programmes of work. We are making significant headway on a number of projects which will support this outcome, most notably (but not exclusively):

- Implementing a single point of access for referrals, through a telemedicine unit

- Implementation of an EPR

- Optimising our patient portal, implementing digital letters, digital remote consent and digital pre-operative assessment

- Embedding asynchronous and virtual appointments across clinical services

Main duties of the job

Evidence has shown that a lack of operational knowledge and understanding when designing and implementing digital services can cause projects to fail, de-rail or not realise the benefits they were intended to. The Digital Operational Lead will provide a critical liaison role on major digital projects such as implementing an EPR between the operational teams, and the technology/IT teams.

As well as being the operational lead for digital delivery, the Digital Operational Lead will be accountable for a range of services under the heading of "digital clinical services". The post holder will provide management responsibility to digital teams, such as members of the EPR team, as they emerge, including HR management, financial management, and performance management.
