We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced workforce information analyst to join our team at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who has a passion for data and the ability to interpret complex workforce information.

You will be joining a great team who are integral to the reporting of accurate, clear and intuitive workforce data.

The successful candidate will lead on the design and configuration of all workforce data analytics across all relevant systems and be responsible for creating all workforce related reports for the Trust Board, Directorate Leads, Service Leads and workforce functional leads.

Main duties of the job

The Workforce Information Lead has day to day line management responsibilities and will ensure that the team are meeting service priorities.

You will lead analysis of the current and future workforce, identifying potential gaps, surpluses and shortfalls, skills mismatches and, working with professional leads, identifying strategies, plans and actions to remedy challenges and problems.

You will lead on the design and configuration of all workforce data analytics across all relevant systems.

Job responsibilities

To lead work with strategic and operational management to understand anticipated, likely and potential business change (short-term, transitional and transformational changes) that will impact on future staffing needs, determining anticipated future workforce needs

The Workforce Information Lead has day to day line management responsibilities and will ensure that the team are meeting service priorities.

You will lead analysis of the current and future workforce, identifying potential gaps, surpluses and shortfalls, skills mismatches and, working with professional leads, identifying strategies, plans and actions to remedy challenges and problems.

To be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of sensitive data, covering data such as absence, turnover, pay grades and remuneration figures. Ensure provisions of the General Data Processing Regulations are followed.

To develop standard reporting functionality within the system so there is a standard reporting suite which aids HR & Payroll, the Board, Senior Management and our end-users.

To produce detailed and summarised analytics of all workforce data, undertaking trend analysis, heat mapping, benchmarking and predictive analytics.

To be responsible for the alignment of all work structure data with the organisational and financial hierarchies within the Trust by liaising with the HR Director and Head of Management Accounts.

To lead the Trusts review actions that ensure it maintains high-quality data in all relevant workforce systems, currently including Electronic Staff Record, Rostering and Insight. Identifying gaps, errors and omissions in this data and setting out corrective actions.

To deliver presentations and participate in/facilitate workshops. There will be a requirement to develop reporting and statistical materials and deliver presentations on workforce data.

To ensure that the appropriate clinical and medical systems have up-to-date workforce information, ideally via a designated interface.

To design and produce complex reports for major stakeholder groups; Interpreting and analysing data using appropriate tools, including, ESR Business Intelligence, Business Objects, Qliksence, proprietary reporting tools, Excel and other predictive modeling tools.

To ensure census returns and other key data collection tasks are successfully delivered including NHS Digital mandated information, FOI requests, NHS Improvement and CQC returns, Equality reporting (e.g. WRES, WDES), audit, HEE and other external governing bodies.

To design and develop, in conjunction with service leads, workforce Dashboards that provide intuitive hot spots within their Directorates and Departments allowing timely remedial actions.

To formulate the monthly HR Trust Board report, using discrete workforce statistical data, a correlation of workforce and other performance related data such as financials and clinical services. Providing a detailed analysis and supporting observations such as highlights and low lights and appropriate recommendations.

To regularly initiate audits and maintain high levels of data quality and integrity.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree level acquired by either formal degree or equivalent
Desirable
  • CIPD, PRINCE2 or other system qualification

Experience

Essential
  • Workforce information and board reporting experience
  • Project Management experience, in particular the planning of complex activities such as data loading, interfacing, dashboard development
  • Extensive experience in the use of appropriate software to provide statistical information
  • Specialist information analysis / system development knowledge acquired through degree and/or relevant practical experience required
Desirable
  • NHS Workforce Information Management experience

Skills

Essential
  • Advanced MS Excel and use of analytical techniques (reconciliations, trends, projections) - Statistical Analysis
  • Advanced Reporting (Calculations, Conditions, Filters, Parameters, lookups, macros, pivots)
Desirable
  • Knowledge of HR and Payroll system modules (HR, Payroll, Recruitment, learning and development, timesheets and expenses elearning, performance management & Self Service)
