Project IT Field Engineer

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen within our Northamptonshire Project Team for an Project IT Field Based Engineer. You will support GP and Corporate Primary Care Staff with multiple projects. For example:

  • Refresh of devices - laptop and workstation
  • Estates work involving IT
  • Microsoft operating systems and software updates
  • Infrastructure refreshes
  • Wi-Fi Refresh
  • GP clinical system migrations

You will have experience in a technical support or field engineering role, with a strong focus on customer delivery, driving forward a collaborative approach. A driving license and access to own transportation is an essential requirement as this role is based in the field and will expect you to travel across the county of Northamptonshire. NHS and Clinical system experience would be advantageous.

Overtime and/or weekend/evening working within your core hours is sometimes available with an uplift in wages (unsocial hours payment) included for weekend work and evening work. Adapting your hours to suit the needs of the project work and will therefore require a post holder with a flexible approach.

Main duties of the job

A key responsibility of this post will be to contribute as part of the team to meet Project Projections and client expectations. Taking a flexible approach on contractual deadlines with on-site support methods.

To develop knowledge and understanding of how GP Sites are setup within Arden and GEM and adapting to any 3rd Party resources used on site, to effectively deliver patient care across Northamptonshire.

The post holder will manage and participate in the delivery of IT project tasks across the county. The post holder is required to have a detailed knowledge of systems and infrastructure required to install and configure various hardware, diagnose and resolve complex integrated service issues, such as: Microsoft operating systems and applications, configuration of network printers, endpoint updates issues, infrastructure installations, complex hardware and software installs, Anti-Virus Support, Cabinet patching, clinical system support, VPN remote access support.

Plan and organise day to day activities around managing project work; prioritise on site clinical rooms and clinics adjust workload to suit customer base. There is likely to be times where planned work will need to be adjusted due to variable workload

This is a field based role supporting AGEM customers across Northamptonshire, the post holder may be expected to drive across the county on any given work day and therefore this needs to be taken in to consideration when applying for this role.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree in relevant IT subject or equivalent experience
  • Technical qualification such as MCSE, MCP, A+ etc
  • Foundation Certificate in ITIL

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of delivering complex IT support directly to customers
  • Good Working Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and MS Office applications
  • Experience of delivering IT in the Field
  • Experience of End user Device Management, e.g. laptops; desktops; printers
Desirable
  • NHS Experience
  • Experience in Project Methodology such as PRINCE2
  • Experience in a IT Project delivery role
  • Clinical system experience

Skills

Essential
  • Able to prioritise own workload to meet changing demands whilst maintaining required service levels
  • Experience of supporting current Microsoft networking technologies including active directory
  • Car owner
  • Full UK driving License
