Senior Analytics Automation Developer

Job summary

We are looking for a talented individual to join the Direct Commissioning Integrated Business Intelligence Team; someone who has a drive and passion in delivering an exemplar service and who would like to progress a career in this profession.

The applicant should possess excellent numerical skills, a methodical approach, a high degree of accuracy in their work and the ability to prioritise work. A good working knowledge and use of Microsoft SQL and Excel is essential.

The postholder will be required to provide analytical support and insights to a range of regional stakeholders, regularly engaging in regional and national forums to ensure standardisation and consistency where appropriate. It will include the development of dashboards and adhoc reporting utilising a range of technical tools.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are to provide data and insights, in relation to NHS England Direct Commissioned Services and NHS England Delegated services, to a range of stakeholders. It requires a strong technical skill set, including SQL and dashboard development and the ability to confident liaise with and manage a range of stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

Will support the implementation of forward-thinking optimally performant solutions that release capacity back into the DPRU and analysis services teams

Will support the implementation of initiatives to drive service efficiencies and process change and transact these through into operational processes

Support the drive to increase the uptake of the NCDR Portal [or equivalent data platform]

Will develop content for the NCDR portal, or equivalent data platform, and support the process of continuous improvement of content

Design and create data visualisations in Tableau, or alternative data visualisation tool, to support stakeholder requirements, iteratively developing prototypes and designs through to completion

Undertake analysis of pathway centric data, focusing on patient journeys

Undertake analysis, developing an excellent understanding of clinical services and service specifications and utilising this understanding to provide story telling, meaningful narrative and insights

Person Specification

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area - information / data analysis.
  • Experience in the development and use of Tableau reporting systems and/or similar tool
  • Good analytical skills using MS SQL Server tools
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information, and evaluate issues, and recommend appropriate course of action to address the issues
  • Some experience of working in data analysis roles
  • Experience of undertaking analysis of information from a range of sources
  • Good data manipulation & interpretation skills using MS Excel
  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands

  • Good communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills; capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences
Desirable
  • NHS experience in commissioner or provider analytical capacity.
  • Direct Commissioning Identification Rules understanding and experience of applying.
  • Trained in the development and use of Microsoft SQL Server databases and reporting tools (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of health services
  • Experience working on reports using Microsoft SQL server.
  • An understanding of health and social care policy
  • Ability to take end user requests and provide the analysis and reports they required to a high level of accuracy and necessary detail.
