Population Health Intelligence Apprentice
Job summary
At BSW ICB we strive to use information to improve decision-making at every level. The Population Health Intelligence Apprentice will play an important role in ensuring we use the data and information at our disposal to understand our population so that we can tailor services and interventions that will help to deliver the best possible outcomes in BSW.
This role is a 2-year fixed-term position that includes an 18-Month Level-4 Data Analyst apprenticeship training programme. The post-holder will be supported to complete their apprenticeship within their working hours, whilst working within the Population Health Intelligence Team and being exposed to work experiences, tasks, and projects that will help them meet their apprenticeship competencies.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and dynamic individual to join the team and take advantage of this opportunity with us. Existing knowledge and experience of analyst/intelligence tasks/techniques is likely to be relevant, but not essential.
Main duties of the job
Establish good working relationships and methods of communication with managers and leaders allowing analytical work to be delivered/presented and managed effectively.
Develop and deliver analysis to support with an understanding of the populations served by different subsets of the BSW system.
With support and direction, perform advanced data and statistical analysis, data visualisation, and employ data-storytelling using specialist tools such as PowerBI/SQL.
Work closely with customers and users of analysis to develop a clear perspective of their needs, issues and drivers - and to communicate this clearly across the relevant parts of the BSW System
Use personal initiative and innovation in the delivery of tasks, analysis, reports, and projects.
Manage competing priorities, and personal organisation of apprenticeship competencies.

BSW ICB have adopted agile working so this means the successful applicant will predominately be working from home but may be requested to work in any one of the ICB's office bases across BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire. You will also have a contractual base within the BSW ICB office where your team is based.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Training and Experience
- Achieved three A-Levels (or equivalent) and GCSE English and Maths)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Demonstrate record of achievement of delivering objectives to timeframes and finding innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, and an ability to prioritise and to work to deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to team working and use of effective team working
- Ability to cope and function effectively when working in a pressurised environment
- Ability to deliver formal presentations to large groups
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualifications/experience
- Understanding of the NHS Commissioning system and clinical commissioning policy and practice
