We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic, skilled and experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with an existing Infrastructure Engineer and technical Infrastructure Manager to support business-as-usual activities and play a crucial role in the development and support of the infrastructure.

Main duties of the job

The NHSCFA Technology function develops, secures, supports, and operates systems in support of NHSCFA operations. Business critical back-office and internet deployed digital applications are provided to support NHSCFA business streams.

The Infrastructure Engineer is a key role within the NHSCFA Information Systems team, supporting the ICT cloud and on-premise Infrastructure and Data network services to ensure the provision of an efficient and reliable service across all NHSCFA offices and to its remote workers.

Job responsibilities

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will support the Infrastructure Manager to deliver innovative ICT projects, support, and develop the provision of current ICT Microsoft Azure Public Cloud Infrastructure, Data Storage, Network configuration, Systems, Teams Phone System and Application Platforms while delivering excellent customer service and system availability in line with Service Level Agreements, while conforming to ISO20000 practices / ITIL processes and other relevant service delivery framework. Working with key suppliers, support the configuration and ongoing management of the NHSCFA infrastructure / network environment, including design and run cost optimisation.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing and supporting a range of ICT solutions and design strategies in a multi supplier environment.
  • Proven ability to undertake detailed analysis of technical designs and provide the business with technical assurance of supplier designs and proposals.
  • Substantial knowledge and experience in supporting a wide range of ICT Services including Server Infrastructure, data networks.
  • Experience of building appropriate and effective business relationships across the organization and with suppliers and partners, facilitating collaboration between stakeholders who have diverse objectives.
  • Experience of implementing and executing policies aligned to strategic plans.
  • Experience of influencing the allocation and management of resources appropriate to assignments
  • Significant experience in supporting and troubleshooting complex ICT Solutions
  • Significant experience of delivering improved outcomes for internal and external customers, using technology, creative approaches and passion to deliver improvements.
Desirable
  • ISO20000 Service Management or ISO27001 Security management standards.
  • Intermediate ITIL Service Management knowledge and Experience

  • Infrastructure services including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Server, VMWare, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, PowerShell
  • Network/firewall technologies
  • Microsoft products & technologies - Azure/Intune/Active Directory, Office 365, Exchange Online, and SharePoint
  • Microsoft System Centre Configuration Management (SCCM) administration
  • SAN and NAS storage administration

Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in managing and developing complex ICT Infrastructure / Systems Industry Recognised Qualifications e.g. Microsoft OR Significant demonstrable experience over a number of years in at least two of the following: Infrastructure service/system Architecture management of a significant ICT implementation Knowledge and experience of network/firewall technologies Knowledge and experience of MS Teams Phone System
