Senior Data Scientist

Job summary

We now have a 12-month secondment or fixed term contract opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to provide expertise in Data Science and analytical methods to the whole organisation. As this role is based in London and working on a hybrid basis NHS High-Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) is available on top of base salary.

Main duties of the job

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Data Science Manager you will support, manage and lead a team of Data Scientists and act as a subject matter expert on the development of Data Science solutions using Python and Azure machine learning studio. You will maintain a high level of engagement between the Data Scientists on the coordination of machine learning pipelines.

As well as assisting the Data Science Team in the development of statistical and analytical best practices and applying these practices to complex NHSR datasets to deliver data insights.

You will also be developing data science methodologies for ad-hoc analysis, insights work and for highly complex prediction and statistical models.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent

Experience

Essential
  • Previous managerial experience leading a data science team
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent
  • Advanced Level of Python
  • Knowledge of software principles such as APIs, CI/CD, DevOps, MLOps
  • Experience of LLM model pre-training, fine tuning. Knowledge of more than one LLM Llama, Clause, OpenAI models
  • In-depth specialist knowledge of statistical analysis. Knowledge of distributions, data manipulations, normalisation algorithms. Knowledge of main statistical techniques (parametric and non-parametric regressions, inference statistics)
