Assistant Job Evaluation Advisor - Staff Side

Job summary

Working in partnership, support SCW and customers with accurate, unbiased evaluation of roles using job descriptions, person specification and any other additional supporting information. Delivery of a high-quality value for money job matching service that supports and educates staff in the required job matching process and requirements. Providing clear and consistent outcome feedback to actively contribute to service improvement while continually reviewing the job evaluation processes to ensure new posts are positioned in the organisational structure at the correct level.

Main duties of the job

Under the guidance of the NHS Job Evaluation Handbook interpret and implement apply the AfC JE Scheme and National Job Profiles accurately and consistently.

Undertake partnership panels with external organisations evaluators.

Recommend improvements to the local job evaluation process and guidance based on updated legislation and identified trends.

Analyse job descripting and person spec content identifying and comparison of a range of options to determine the overall outcome.

Ensure a transparent audit trail for job evaluations is maintained throughout the evaluation process.

To undertake job comparison assessments to establish the percentage match of an existing and new JD.

To be a subject matter expert on job matching, national job profiles, JD guidance and IJES.

Provide clear and useful job evaluation outcome feedback to internal and external/consultancy customers where the JD and PS fail to meet the national profile.

Support managers on good practice and the job evaluation process, aiding on the writing of job descriptions and person specifications, to ensure consistency of approach.

The JE service is a fast-paced team serving the job evaluation needs of multiple organisations within the NHS and benchmark against AfC JDs for non-NHS organisations. These needs range from a full evaluation and partnership panels with an organisation trained evaluators to Job comparison assessment. You will support Job evaluation working in a virtual panel. SCW offer full 10 working day turn around form submission to outcome.

Applicants need to be a recognised trade union representative, Ideally, we would like you to be JE trained too, however it is your Staff side expertise we need and we can teach you the art of Job Evaluation.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To support bespoke HR projects/programmes of work relating to the job evaluation service.

To carry out other appropriate delegated duties as required by the Assistant People Support Advisor / People Advisor Operations.

To work to deadlines as set out by customer service level agreements (SLAs), these may vary by customer and will require the formulation and adjustment of plans to meet SLA requirements.

The job description and person specification are an outline of the tasks, responsibilities and outcomes required of the role.

The job description and person specification may be reviewed on an ongoing basis in accordance with the changing needs of the Department and the Organisation.

To support HR Operations team(s) as required.

Person Specification

Education

Essential
  • Educated to Degree level education or equivalent or previous relevant experience
Desirable
  • Level 5 CIPD
  • Evidence of undertaking formal JE training course

Knowledge & Experience

Essential
  • Good level of knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions of service
  • Expert knowledge of NHS JE Scheme
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar customer focused role
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in the use of JE process and systems
  • Regular requirement to develop or create outcome reports,
  • Advanced computer and keyboard skills with good understanding of spreadsheets and data extraction
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an NHS JE environment
Desirable
  • Experience of Job Analysis Questionnaire (JAQ)

Skills & Capabilities

Essential
  • In depth communication skills dealing with highly complex evaluations, providing clear outcome feedback to no match evaluations. Ability to cope where there are barriers to understanding.
  • Experience of analysing evaluation outcome and trends. Escalating to HR Admin services manager, Assistant HR Business Partner and/or local HR as required
  • The ability to inspire confidence in the delivery of the JE service
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time to undertake complex analysis
  • Demonstrable experience in the planning workloads both short and long term
  • Makes sensible, intelligent decisions in deadline driven situations
  • Flexible approach to work to ensure deadlines are achieved
  • Ability to travel as a when required
