Job summary

The Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board (SNEE ICB) is an ambitious and innovative clinically led organisation. The business intelligence department are looking for a 1 year, fixed term associate SQL developer to assist the existing information team to deliver on its existing core responsibilities.

The associate SQL developer post is a key role supporting the delivery of reliable, accurate and timely data to the ICB. An important element of this is the assistance provided to the wider business intelligence team, helping them to source and access new and existing datasets within the data warehouse. The successful candidate will have great technical abilities, tenacity and be innovative to compliment an exceptional and highly skilled team.

The post would ideally suit someone with experience in SQL or a similar language, and understanding of data structures and an interest in how technological innovation can bring about improvements to ways of working.

Please note, due to the ongoing cost reduction programme and restructure underway at SNEE ICB (due to end in Summer 2024), prior consideration for this role may be given to existing staff who are affected by this programme and this role may be removed from the recruitment process at any time.

Main duties of the job

Communication & relationship skills

Communicate the state and readiness of business critical, sensitive, and complex information across the wider team.

Liaise with analytical team around setting up new data flows.

Liaise with external providers around any issues or delays that may arise.

Attend and contribute to regular meetings within the department.

Analytical and judgemental skills

Highlight areas of concern to the wider team around data quality, completeness, timeliness.

Analyse data imports and historic data to identify potential issues or missing data.

Analyse new data to ensure correct data types are used to support relational fields.

Monitor performance of warehouse and server, and recommend potential solutions where required.

Make decisions around the order of daily tasks to best utilise the time.

Planning and organisation skills

Manage and plan own workload and priorities which at times can be complex and need to be responsive to wider organisational needs.

Co-ordinate with other team members to ensure all daily tasks are covered.

Job responsibilities

The primary purpose of the associate SQL developer is to play a full and active role within the ICB information team to deliver high quality information services to the ICB.

The post holder will support the work of the information and modelling manager, and the SQL developer team, to ensure that analytical datasets are properly maintained within the ICB data warehouse, ensure its successful operation and also take on additional duties to support the wider work of the Business Intelligence department.

The postholder will be required to utilise their skills and knowledge to process daily, weekly, and monthly datasets and communicate effectively to the wider team around progress or issues.

The post holder will be a member of a small, highly skilled, team and will be required to work closely with the analytical team and external partner organisations.

Knowledge, Training & Experience

  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, range of computerised software, own directorate specialised terminology, managerial knowledge, project monitoring, acquired through degree or equivalent experience or equivalent training and experience
  • Educated in relevant subject or equivalent level / experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
  • Capable of writing and interpreting SQL code.
Desirable
  • Previously worked in similar position
  • Experience of working with confidential and/or sensitive information.
  • Competent user of SQL Server Management Studio.
