Blue chip client is urgently looking for a Packaging Engineer within medical technology and/or pharmaceutical industries.
Role is remote with some travel to Sweden needed.
My client is seeking a highly skilled Packaging Engineer to develop and implement cutting-edge packaging solutions for medical devices and pharmaceutical industries. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring the delivery of innovative, compliant, and efficient packaging solutions that meet the stringent standards of the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Our clients are typically global leaders in healthcare, known for their advancements in treatments and medical technologies.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Lead Packaging Development: Oversee the conceptualization, design, and validation of packaging solutions for medical devices, ensuring all packaging meets regulatory standards.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to align packaging solutions with industry standards and organizational objectives.
3. Documentation & IP Protection: Maintain high-quality engineering documentation with detailed packaging specifications, drawings, and all required documentation. Ensure the safeguarding of intellectual property rights.
4. Feasibility and Testing: Conduct detailed feasibility studies, material evaluations, and performance testing to optimize packaging design and functionality.
5. Design Specifications: Define performance criteria, select appropriate materials, and create detailed design specifications for packaging products and test requirements.
6. Supplier and Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, production & packaging component stakeholders. Ensure quality and timely delivery of packaging components, within budget and meet quality standards.
7. Project Leadership: Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring alignment with the stakeholder, external vendors and organizational goals.
8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all packaging solutions adhere to relevant regulatory frameworks and standards, with a focus on delivering projects in highly regulated environments.
9. Process Improvement: Identify areas for continuous improvement in packaging processes and technologies, keeping up with industry trends and sustainability practices.
10. Production Readiness: Supervise production maturation activities, ensuring alignment with design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Master's Degree in Engineering or a related field is required.
Experience:
1. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of total work experience, with at least 2-3 years specifically in packaging development within regulated industries. This includes hands-on experience in product development from concept through to production.
2. Product Development: Expertise in product development of paper board-based packaging, from concept to production.
3. Cross-functional (internal) & Supplier Management: Strong skills in managing relationships with suppliers, vendors and third-party stakeholders as well as internal stakeholder management.
Technical Skills:
1. Proficient in packaging materials, validation, and testing protocols.
2. Demonstrated ability to translate technical packaging requirements into production-ready designs.
3. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) ISO13485:2006 and ISO 11608-1:2022.
4. Familiarity with sustainable packaging solutions and evolving regulatory trends.
Industry Experience:
1. Experience in executing projects in regulated environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and guidelines.
2. Preferred experience in pharmaceutical or medical device packaging.
3. Collaboration: Exceptional collaboration skills, with proven experience working with global teams, cross functional teams and suppliers.
Language Proficiency:
Fluent in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse cultural settings and international teams.
Work Type:
Depending on assignment the position can be hybrid, with flexibility between on-site work and remote collaboration.
Willingness and flexibility to travel as needed.
