As an Azure Engineer, you'll play a vital role in supporting and developing the Ofgem Azure platform. Working as part of a team of infrastructure specialists, you'll build, administer, support, and maintain solutions, including new services and the migration of existing services to the Cloud. You'll ensure services are integrated, delivered, and operated effectively, working proactively to resolve technical problems as they arise. This is high profile work that will contribute to a smarter and more secure energy environment.
You'll have experience as an Azure engineer using core Azure Services, and of Microsoft Azure Operational and Monitoring tools management. You'll also have demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Azure and its relevant build, deployment, automation, networking, and security technologies in Cloud and hybrid environments. Job description
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Azure Engineer you will have a strong background in cloud computing, specifically with Microsoft Azure, and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud architecture, security, and best practices.
Senior Azure Engineers work closely with other IT professionals and stakeholders to ensure that our cloud infrastructure is robust, scalable, and secure. You will have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
At this level, you will:
- Design and implement Azure cloud solutions.
- Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure security and compliance of cloud environment.
- Automate cloud operations and workflows.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders.
- Optimise cloud performance and cost.
- Develop and maintain cloud documentation.
- Provide technical support and guidance.
- Implement and support disaster recovery and backup solutions.
- Conduct/ remediate regular security assessments.

- Use Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Infrastructure as Code to automate the deployment of resource stacks and associated configuration for the DevOps community in Ofgem.
- You will respond to incident reports, ensuring relevant prioritisation and detail to allow for effective investigation.
- You will identify the correct procedures and appropriate channels for resolution and monitor resolution activities and progress updates to users.
- You will investigate faults in systems, processes and services, and advise on the implementation of appropriate solutions and preventative measures.
- You will work collaboratively to ensure that a set of IT products, suppliers and vendors come together to deliver an IT service.
