We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our AHP leadership team supporting our allied health professionals working in adult and older adult mental health in Buckinghamshire.

As part of the role you will have a day a week dedicated to developing and supporting research opportunities for AHPs. Working alongside our professor of rehabilitation this is a an excellent opportunity to increase the evidence base for AHPs.

The profile of AHPs in mental health is growing and we are looking for someone who shares our passion to support our AHPs to develop, flourish and provide the best patient outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

We have recently published our Oxford Health AHP strategy and are committed to ensuring AHPs are in the right place at the right time with the right skills. You will be well supported in post by the AHP leadership team and the research and development team to enable you to grow in to the role and make it your own.

You will be working across Buckinghamshire supporting the AHPs in the four inpatient wards and the community mental health teams for adult and older adults. The research element of the role will have impact across all our services.

Secondments will be considered.

Main duties of the job

Working alongside senior MDT members and professional leads you will provide leadership, direction and a voice for the Allied Health Professions within the adult and older adult mental health services in Buckinghamshire and enable strategic development of the professions in accordance with national and local NHS guidance.

You will be accountable for the professional and clinical performance of AHP staff and provide representative and advisory role within these services for matters relating to AHP's.

You will provide specialist clinical assessments and interventions in a relevant field in line with experience and provide the professional supervision for Occupational Therapists in the service lines.

You will develop and support research capabilities for AHP's in mental health.

The role is varied interfacing with a number of teams and you will have opportunity to build relationships and influence service delivery.

Education

Essential
  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
Desirable
  • Masters qualification in relevant field
  • Additional training in specialist field - e.g trauma, sensory, family work
  • Leadership training

Experience

Essential
  • Significant experience working in mental health field
  • Experience of leading and managing Occupational Therapists
Desirable
  • Experience of leading, developing wider AHP group
  • Leading/implementing change projects

Knowledge & Experience

Essential
  • Knowledge and experience of recovery in mental health
  • Experience and involvement in research projects
  • Involvement in service development and QI
Desirable
  • Taken a lead role in QI project or service development
